If you think that the white kids in Jena who put up the nooses in the tree deserves anything less than expulsion, you're a racist or just a silly prick

I agree - and unfortunately I forsee getting in many arguments over the next few weeks about these topics with people who have not the first clue about the LAW. (Except for maybe the Halo thing... being that I've never played Halo, lol)

I disagree (though not entirely) with what the Andrew Meyer thing. I do think he is a stupid kid looking for attention, but I also think tasering him was completely unnecessary. If six cops can't hold down a 150 pound kid without using a taser, maybe they shouldn't be cops.
And, Kerry didn't ask him to leave, he was actually saying that he wanted to answer the question. It's not like the kid was posing any physical threat to anyone, he was just being annoying, and having however many people were in the audience hate him, rather than having a million people think of him as some sort of martyr. I think they should have let him stay, then taken him out at the end, or after his question, and banned him from attending any future speaking events held by the University.

the problem with that is that you don't know who Andrew Meyer is. I went to high school with the kid, he is just a prankster. He doesn't actually believe the crap he was asking Kerry, he just wanted to cause a scene so people would talk about him. If this kid had something he really believed in to say, then power to him, but Meyer is just a jackass who likes to get people to look at him. He was like that in high school, and I wish he could have been tazered then.

Knowing that actually gives me more reason to say he shouldn't have not been tasered. Just look at how much publicity he's getting now, if he is the kind of person you say he is, then really, he just go what he wanted, for everyone to notice him. If he was just thrown out or banned from future speeches, then people would just see him as, "that kid that ran up and acted like a jackass."

Well, they were trying to just throw him out, but he kept flailing about and fighting back. We like to think they could've dragged him out some other way, but that's hard when someone's insistent on constantly struggling. I mean, just try throwing someone into the fountain when they're ACTUALLY fighting back and flailing about for an example. It's pretty much impossible unless you have some kind of restraints, and getting THOSE on are nearly impossible unless you stun the resisting person into submission. And we do THAT with a taser. A stun gun isn't NEARLY as bad as it's being hyped up to be. Yes, it can cause problems, but it's not like they pulled out a riot shotgun and pelted him with rubber bullets and beanbags that shattered his bones. They hit him with a taser and he was up and walking again a few minutes later. Is this really worth all the fuss?
