Summary: There's nothing much to it, Kyuhyun was hungry and Sungmin was cooking.
He was a humble man, he didn't want much. Just enough to live comfortably and support his parents was enough for this simple man. He managed a small ramen stand by himself with his older brother and business was always plentiful. He was happy with that, he was happy with his current state of affairs. He enjoyed his job, even if it was labor-intensive. Sungmin was a happy and humble man.
One day, while his older brother went out to buy more ingredients, Sungmin found himself in the presence of a very pale, rather thin, young man who looked really hungry---starving, to say the least. Of course, being the kind-hearted soul that he was, he started to cook a bowl of ramen for the hungry man. The thin man then sat down on one of the benches along the counter and watched Sungmin cook.
The hungry man then hesitated. "You know," the man started, "I'm sorry but I don't really have any money to pay for that at the moment."
"It's okay. This one's on me." Sungmin replied as he stirred in the egg into the hot broth. He knew that his older brother would be angry at him for letting someone eat for free just like that but he couldn't help but feed this pale, thin young man. Outside of looking ravaged by hunger, he saw and thought that he was a kind man that wouldn't abuse his trust. Everyone else might have thought he was crazy, trusting a stranger like that. But something in either his mind or heart was telling him to feed this gentle and very hungry person.
"Thank you, sir." the thin man replied. "I'm really grateful."
"You're welcome. I'd like to know the my customer's name though, if that's okay." Sungmin said with his signature smile, as he set the freshly-cooked bowl of ramen on the table.
"My name?" the man stuttered, looking up at Sungmin then back down at the bowl of ramen. It was obvious he was starving on accounts of he lost concentration. "My name is Kyuhyun. Cho Kyuhyun."
Sungmin smiled as handed Kyuhyun a pair of chopsticks and a spoon. "That's a nice name. Enjoy your meal, Kyuhyun-ssi."
Kyuhyun then ate his ramen with much gusto. He felt more than physically satisfied with the meal. He enjoyed it more knowing that someone, out of the goodness of their own heart, prepared it for him. He thought of himself as pitiful because of his lack of monetary aid (which he spent mostly on video games...) but the general feel-good sensation that this stranger, or new found friend gave him was cancelling out that primary feeling. He never felt that way before. It was strange in a good way which just helped him to further enjoy the delicious ramen before him.
Sungmin was just happy to help.
"If it's okay," Kyuhyun said as he took a break from slurping the noodles of his ramen "I'd like to know your name too..."
"My name is Lee Sungmin. Nice to meet you." Sungmin cheerfully replied. They exchanged small bows and went about their business.
One thing's for sure, they didn't forget each other's names.
