Sniffling, sneezes and dripping nose… I am so unhappy. You’re not supposed to get sick when the weather is this nice. And it only took a month for the LA bugs and viruses to get me. Argh! On the other hand, it seems like the whole lab is sick or has been sick, so I guess it was only a question of time. I can’t wait till it passes.

As I might have alluded to earlier, my social life here in LA hasn’t quite taken off yet and so far, it’s mainly been dates with the television. Sad, I know but I’m working on it. During the weekend two good friends from the East coast came and visited me here in LA. It was great hanging out, catching up. The trip went much better than I expected and I actually had a great time. Everyone was very nice, the demo of the instrument was very impressive (I hope we get it) and of course since this was a business trip we were wine and dined by the sales people. My new boss has told me he wants me to join him for a demo of a new very expensive piece of the equipment and I’m supposed to be there to give my “expert opinion” (no pressure at all). The reason I moved to LA is that I got a job here and Monday was the first day at work. As always, when you start a new job there’s a lot of paperwork to deal with and I’ve spent almost two days filling out forms and running around to different offices. In LA at last! It feels like I’ve been on my may somewhere for more than a year and it really feels good to finally have arrived. Almost two weeks ago, I left Ithaca after living there for almost six years. I never imagined I would stay that long. Ithaca was an ok place to live, just not for me.
