While there will always be people better than you, I don't think that should be something that gets you down. I find that a lot of people who are technically good translators (meaning that the grammar/word choices are fitting and quite exact) tend to forget about the poetry that song lyrics have and people who don't have such an exact command are more likely to feel around to get at the heart of what the original writer was aiming at. And even if you don't get it quite right, I don't think anybody but the writer can know what it was meant to mean. Or it might not be definite.

FWIW I think your translations are quite poetic - and I've always been impressed by your translations of those memetastic Touhou songs. Did I ever tell you I once planned to translate Kero 9 Destiny, but gave up because I couldn't make sense of the in-jokes? So I was really glad when I saw you'd done it and explained them all.
