Kurt parked his car in the loading zone, waiting for David to come out of the terminal. This would be Dave’s second visit to Chicago. And Kurt was giddy.
The first visit, in January, was nice. But since they were determined to go slow with this new relationship, they hesitantly agreed to keep their hands to themselves. Dave had slept on the pullout couch and was the perfect gentleman at all times. They went to dinner and Dave held Kurt’s hand. They snuggled together on the couch and kissed while watching a movie. They talked, laughed and simply enjoyed their time….getting to know each other, again. Some things had changed since high school but some things were still the same. Kurt was still just as fierce and opinionated while Dave was easy-going and a little more levelheaded. They shared funny stories and traded gossip about fellow classmates. It was a perfect weekend.
Elijah’s gibberish brought Kurt out of his daydreams. He looked up at the steady stream of people coming out of the doors. It was March already. And Kurt was sure that this weekend was going to be even more amazing. They’d talked on the phone and texted almost daily. Kurt sent videos of a babbling Elijah to brighten Dave’s inbox. They were growing closer, and Kurt thought maybe, maybe this weekend, if everything went well…he might actually get Dave into his bed.
Dave walked through the automatic doors just as Kurt walked around his car and stood at the curb. They kissed briefly before Kurt reached to open the back seat door for Dave to toss his bag in. Instead, Dave climbed into the back seat himself….scooting in close and giving Elijah a kiss and squeeze, speaking babytalk nonsense and of course, getting an adorable babbling of nonsense in return. Kurt blinked back his tears. I thought my hormones were supposed to be stable by now.
Later that evening, after wearing Elijah out with peek-a-boo and funny faces, Dave and Kurt snuggled on the couch. “You’re amazing, you know.” Kurt mumbled.
“You’re crazy.” Dave replied. “I’m just lucky enough to be here. You’re the amazing one.”
“We’ll have to agree to disagree.” Kurt chuckled, threading his fingers through Dave’s. “As adorable as it was watching you and my eight-month-old converse all evening, I’m ready for some grown-up dialogue…if you know what I mean.” Kurt shifted on the couch, moving his body and swinging his leg over Dave’s thighs until he was straddling him. He pressed his body against Dave’s, leaning in and kissing the sensitive area behind his ear and down his neck.
Dave couldn’t stop a deep groan from escaping his lips. He tightened his grip reflexively around Kurt’s waist, sinking his fingers into the irresistible softness there. He let his hands move lower, rounding Kurt’s ass and squeezing. The feel of Kurt’s breath on his neck was making him lose his ability to think clearly. Grabbing Kurt’s ass firmly, he pulled him closer, grinding into him. But then he stopped abruptly, pulling his hands away. Kurt didn’t stop his trail of kisses down Dave’s neck, instead simply murmuring, “I liked that…do it again…”
When Dave didn’t move, keeping his hands instead hovering inches away from Kurt’s body, Kurt pulled back, looking into Dave’s eyes. “What’s wrong? Dave…what is it?”
“Are you…are you sure you want to do this, Kurt?
“What? Of course I do.” Kurt chuckled, slightly confused. “I’m doing it….aren’t I?”
“I just…thought we were going to take things slowly. You know, getting to know each other and all.” Dave looked down, averting his eyes…but not before Kurt saw the doubt hidden there. “I don’t want you to…regret this.”
Kurt rolled his eyes. “First of all, we are taking things slowly.” He resumed the light kisses on Dave’s neck as he spoke. “This is technically our fifth date and we’re still only making out on my couch, fully clothed. Second,” Kurt shifted slightly, grazing his erection with Dave’s ever so delicately, “…I think we know each other pretty well. I mean, I thought we knew each other in high school but now, every time we talk or when we’re together…I’m just more and more amazed by you.” Kurt’s hands had somehow found their way underneath Dave’s shirt and he was stroking the light furriness of Dave’s chest. “And third, there is no possible way, not a single chance anywhere or anyhow, that I will regret this, David Karofsky. Getting you naked is all I’ve been able to think about for the past few weeks.”
Dave smirked as Kurt pulled back to look in his eyes. “I’ve been thinking about getting you naked for a lot longer than that.”
Kurt blushed, leaning in and kissing him deeply on the lips. “Well…get to it, then...” he whispered, his breath ghosting over Dave’s lips. Kurt tugged at the bottom of Dave’s shirt, allowing Dave to lean forward and pull it up and over his head.
A minute later, Kurt’s shirt was off as well. They continued kissing and touching, grinding into each other as they sat on the couch. They eventually made it to Kurt’s bed, removing the remaining articles of clothing as they climbed into it. Dave was awestruck by Kurt’s gorgeous body, having years worth of fantasies now coming true before his eyes. Just the slightest amount of baby-fat remained on Kurt’s body and Dave was convinced that he’d never seen anything so perfect.
He stroked his hand gently down Kurt’s chest as they laid side by side. “So beautiful...” Dave murmured, lost in his adoration. His fingers traced over the scar on Kurt’s lower abdomen, not surprised to realize he found it just as sexy as the rest of him. He wrapped his hand firmly around Kurt’s erection, stroking gently for a moment before bringing his body in position…and then finding it with his lips as well. He kissed the head of Kurt’s shaft reverentially, on some level still trying to convince himself that this wasn’t a dream.
Dave took as much of Kurt’s full length into his mouth as he could, disappointed he couldn’t take more. He lavished his full attention on Kurt’s hard cock, fondling his scrotum, sucking and licking and stroking with his hand what his mouth couldn’t reach. He wanted this moment to last forever….but for Kurt’s sake, he accepted that it would have to end eventually.
Kurt came easily with Dave’s worshipful attention, moaning and grunting out indecipherable words and thrusting involuntarily as he climaxed. Dave returned to laying next to Kurt’s still trembling body, holding him, wanting to be closer, amazed that he was the reason behind the shudders reverberating through Kurt’s body.
“I can’t even…” were the only coherent words Kurt could say, whispering them into the dimly lit room. Several moments of relaxed silence followed until Kurt decided it was Dave’s turn. He pushed Dave onto his back, repaying him with his own mind-blowing oral skills.
They snuggled together under the blankets, wrapped in each other’s arms, enjoying the feel and the sounds of each other’s breath returning to normal. Dave’s hand had settled on Kurt’s balls and he fondled them gently as they laid in silence. Kurt’s face was nestled on the soft padding of Dave’s chest, his ear resting over Dave’s heart.
“You’re the most amazing person I know, Kurt. I…” I love you…god, I love you so much. I’ve loved you since high school. Since that kiss. You stole my heart and it’s never belonged to anyone else but you. Having had you now….there’s no way I can live without you. The words screamed inside his head, but he knew he couldn’t say them. It was far too early for Kurt. He didn’t want to risk freaking him out by proclaiming his love this soon. “…I’m just so lucky I get a second chance with you…” he mumbled instead.
Kurt snuggled closer, his hand playing lightly over the silky fur of Dave’s chest. “You’re pretty amazing yourself, David Karofsky. That was, without a doubt, the most incredible blow job I’ve ever received.”
“Really?” Dave gaped. “Ever?”
“Ever.” Kurt answered, chuckling softly. “I think I may keep you around for that reason alone.”
There were so many things Dave wanted to say, but didn’t. No more words were spoken and they drifted off to sleep. Sometime during the early, still darkened hours of the morning, Kurt rolled over, reaching for the warmth of Dave’s body but not finding it. He sat up in bed, looking around the quiet room.
Kurt tiptoed into the living room, thinking Dave might have had trouble sleeping and could be watching TV. But he wasn’t there. He continued down the hall toward his son’s room, when he heard Elijah’s babbles and Dave’s hushed singing. He crept closer to the half opened door. He could see Elijah’s crib was empty so he knew Dave must have been holding him or sitting in the rocking chair with him. He listened to Dave’s adorable lullaby for a moment and was going to turn back when Dave’s words made him freeze.
“I’m going to tell you secret, Elijah. Can you keep a secret?” Elijah replied with his baby gibberish. “I love your daddy…I do. You don’t know it yet, but he’s pretty amazing. You came out of him, you know…you did. You came out of his belly. You know how incredible that is?” Elijah babbled back to him. “I know. And it’s not just that. There are so many amazing things about your daddy. I fell in love with him way before you came along. I’ve been in love with him since...ugh…since I can remember. He was my first kiss, you know…my first love. And tonight, he was my first….huh…well, you’re too young to hear about what we just did.”
Kurt brought his hand to his mouth, trying to contain his gasp. He felt guilty, listening to his boyfriend’s confessions of love to his infant son. But he couldn’t bring himself to turn around and go back to bed.
“I don’t know if he likes me as much as I like him. But I hope he does, I hope he will. You wanna know something else, little guy. I absolutely love you.” Elijah replied with more babbling noises. “I do. I wish I was your daddy. I could never tell him this….but…I’m a little jealous. I know, right. Jealous of Kurt Hummel, the story of my life. But he had you…all by himself. Cause that’s what Kurt Hummel does. He’s independent and he doesn’t wait around for nobody. Nope…nobody.” Elijah laughed and mumbled back at him. “But if I could have made it happen…I would have been your other daddy. I would have….because I love you. And I love him.”
Kurt finally pulled himself back down the hallway and slipped into his bed. His mind was racing and he his heart was beating frantically. He tried to be rational, to think rationally. Dave worked in Cincinnati and Kurt lived in Chicago. They both had lives and jobs and there were so many things that would have to be decided before they could ever think about being together…as a…as a…Kurt tried the word out, for himself, out loud. “Family.” He liked the way it sounded, as much as it scared him. He knew he could trust Dave and he was now convinced the man was utterly and hopelessly in love with him. He wasn’t quite there yet…but it would happen. He was sure of it.
Kurt dropped Dave off at the airport Sunday afternoon. He hadn’t said anything about what he’d overheard. How could he? They stood at the curb, Dave holding Elijah one last time. “I’m gonna miss you, buddy. Don’t go and change on me too much. I’ll be back as soon as I can.” Elijah babbled and drooled and smacked Dave’s chest with the teething rattle he was holding.
Kurt smiled at the exchange. He loved how it seemed like his son and his boyfriend were having an actual conversation. Dave leaned back into the car, buckling Elijah into his carseat. He turned back to Kurt and kissed him so deeply, so passionately Kurt’s knees almost gave out. He pulled back, searching Kurt’s eyes. Kurt knew what Dave was thinking…he knew what words he wanted to say but he also knew…Dave was holding back. For his sake. “I’ll see you soon, babe. Bye.”
I know you love me. I know how you feel. And it makes me so happy, David…so very happy. “Bye, David. Thank you for a…a wonderful weekend.”

“How was your weekend, sweetie?” Vickie’s voice had entirely too much expectation in it for Dave’s liking.
“Nice. Good. We um…had a nice time together.” Dave refused to give his mother any juicy details….as much as he knew she wanted them. He had been sitting at his desk, at work, trying to concentrate. But it was useless.
“You really like him, don’t you?” Vickie asked. “I could tell, you know…you guys have a connection….like chemistry. You’d have to be blind not to see it. You really like him.”
“Yeah mom, I do.” Dave sighed. “He’s just…everything….you know, everything I’ve always wanted. And the closer we get, it’s just…” Dave smiled as the memories from the past weekend danced around his head. “What’s so amazing about Kurt, he’s let me forget all about the crap that went on in high school. I was young and stupid and I made mistakes….but then I worked really hard to make amends and earn his forgiveness. But he doesn’t even act like I’m the same guy. We’re starting over fresh but I still get to keep all these things I feel for him.”
“Sounds like you’re in love, dear.”
“You’re just now noticing, mom?” Dave smirked, looking out at the Cincinnati skyline. “Things are going so well right now…it’s just unbelievable.

Kurt was inconsolable, sitting on his parents’ couch, surrounded by his family members. Elijah was sleeping in the other room but Kurt still rocked slightly as he spoke, tears staining his cheeks, fear etched on his face. It was the middle of June and his world had just been turned upside down. “The police tell me they’re working on it but…god, this is so scary. I was just so scared.”
“Everything will be alright, Kurt. We’ll make sure you’re safe, honey. You and Elijah.” Carole sat closest to him, her motherly arm wrapped tight around his shoulders.
“I’ve never felt such fear in all my life…it just…I couldn’t breathe.”
“You’re fine now, Kurt.” Finn added. “It’s ok, you’re here now. Everything’s going to be fine.”
A knock at the door had Finn up and across the room in an instant.
“Dave?” Kurt squawked, wiping his face with his hands. “What are you doing here?”
Dave was immediately across the room and sitting next to Kurt. “I came as soon as Finn called me. Are you ok?”
Kurt snapped his eyes to Finn, tears welling up again and then he broke down further. “Oh god, Dave…I was so scared.”
“Tell me what happened, Kurt. What’s been going on?”
“It was just a phone call. About a week ago. Just a stupid voice telling me I was a freak and that my baby….was…a…” Kurt choked on his words. “I hung up before they could spew any more hate. I tried to forget about it. I don’t know how they got my number but I just tried to put it out of my head. Then another call two nights ago. They were so…vicious.” Kurt sobbed as Dave stroked his back. “Then this morning, this morning his daycare called me. They had been getting calls too. Three of them in an hour, saying horrible things about Elijah being the spawn of the devil and that he deserves to die. They said they knew where he was and they were coming to get him.” Kurt buried his face in Dave’s chest. “When I got there, to pick him up…a rock, a huge rock came flying through the front window. Glass was everywhere, Elijah was screaming. I was so scared.”
“Why didn’t you tell anyone? Last week? Why didn’t you tell me?” Dave was whispering into Kurt’s hair as Kurt clung to his chest. The rest of the family had left them alone sitting in the living room. “Babe, why didn’t you call me?”
“I…I didn’t want to make you worry.” Kurt sniffled, “That sounds so stupid, I’m so sorry. I should have told you, David. I’m sorry.”
“Stop apologizing. It doesn’t matter. You’re safe now, Elijah’s safe. Everything’s going to be ok.”
“How…how did they find me? They got my number…they knew where Elijah’s daycare was. I didn’t even go back home, David. I just drove straight to the airport and….I…I never want to go back. Those people, they’re there….it’s like they’re waiting for me to turn my back and then Elijah will be--”
“Stop it, Kurt. Stop…everything is fine. Nothing bad is going to happen now.” Dave lifted Kurt’s chin and looked into his beautiful blue-green eyes. He thumbed a tear away from Kurt’s cheek and whispered, “I’m going to protect you, Kurt. I’m not going to let anything bad happen. I swear.”

Chapter 4 - You're wrong, you know....I'm not going to tell you which part.
