Back in the day, this was more cut and dry, but I think now the lines are very blurred. I live in "the North of the South" (DC Metro) but both sets of grandparents moved up here from South Carolina. So there are a lot of people being raised "southern style" in the North. I don't think that there are that big of differences in the north and the south, except that in the south people are generally more slow, friendly, and hype.

As far as treating partners, like I said, you have to look back to see where their parents came from. Even though they lived in New Jersey, their parents could have been from Mississippi. I haven't found a major difference between north/south guys, they all seem to screw you over just the same. Except southern guys (the ones I know) tend to be more friendly, but that doesn't make them better.

In a nutshell, neither raising style is better, because there's no huge difference except that damn southern "smile at everyone and say hi to everyone" which is fucking annoying.

I hope you got my point.

but you just said it though. the styles of raising your kids and certain values are regional. and i agree southern ppl are a lot more friendly. but i never got the "slow" part of it ( ... )

whoa, slow down tiger!

i think the pace of city life in the south is slower then BIG cities in the north.

That's what I meant by "slow". not dumb. people in the south just MOVE slower, i wasn't saying that they are slow mentally. And I agree, New York is self-absorbed. So is Baltimore.

As for that whole migration thing, I won't speak on that, because you're from Atlanta, so you're biased. I'm from "the north" so I'm biased.

the guys I know from the south are more friendly and more open, but NOT better. it all depends on what you go for.

you aren't from the north..

you just on the line and THINK you can go either way. lmao

and i know what your saying. but i'm not bias. the whole migration thing is obvious. if i can get a 15 acre house in GA for what most people are paying for a 2 bedroom apartment in manhatten, which one is getting the better deal?

if i got 50 job offers down here, when if i was pushed into a market like NY or LA that had a bigger market, yet only 20 job offers with a HIGHER price of living which place would seem better?

i'm not saying that the south is better. i'm just saying in this time, with the economy, with the status of being a minority...if i was hustling trying to pay a $3000/m note vs. coming down here and getting a bigger house for my money..i'd go where the land was at. you don't get paid as high down here, but it doesn't cost as much to live here.

Ooh good question.
I have no answers. LOL… I’ll think about it since I’ve dated both Southern and Northern men……….then again, I only dated one Southern man-the others are just living here but are from up north.
