“Yama-chan, Yuuto, are you two secretly dating?” Chinen, seemingly innocent, posed the question but one look at his face made it obvious he’d been planning this moment since who knew when.
“No!” Yamada’s face colored the same shade as his strawberries while Yuuto simply froze in place, unable to react.
“Chii.” Ryutaro was giving him the warning tone that he learned from all the lectures Yabumama gave him.
“What? You and Keito were talking about it earlier!” Chinen earnestly pulled on the younger boy’s arm, pouting. It quickly melted into a small smile as Ryutaro closed his hand around his and gave him an affectionate pat.
Yuuto whipped his head around to glare at Keito, that traitor, who just put up his hands helplessly.
“It was harmless,” Keito explained in that soft voice of his. “Though, I admit I am curious...?”
“We’re just friends,” Yamada told them firmly as Yuuto nodded furiously, thankful none of them knew his blood was pounding in his ears.
Chinen nodded, seemingly distracted by Ryutaro's arms wrapping around his waist and then abruptly asked, “So how long have you two been dating?”
“About two year-” Yuuto stopped at the look on Yamada’s face. Oh crap. Yamada face palmed as Chinen grinned triumphantly.
Later that night, when everyone else had fallen fast asleep and Chinen had crawled his way into Ryutaro’s bed, Yuuto sat in the living room couch with Yamada’s head resting on his shoulder.
“Well, they were bound to find out eventually,” Yamada suddenly said. “Especially Chinen. He goes to school with us after all, plus he’s more perspective than he usually seems.”
“You mean how he forced a confession on Ryutaro and then wouldn’t leave him alone until he returned it?” Yuuto chuckled at the memory.
“I thought he was being a stubborn little brat. Who knew he was right and Ryutaro really did like him back?” Yamada moved his head into a more comfortable position. He went quiet as Yuuto fingered the top of his hand.
“Wasn’t that similar to how we got together?” Yuuto intertwined their fingers, his long, thin ones a sharp contrast with Yamada’s smaller hand. “You wouldn’t admit you liked me either.”
“Did not.” Yamada used his free hand to punch Yuuto lightly on the arm. “You just kept picking the wrong places to confess.”
“I thought you wouldn’t say ‘no’ if other people were watching!” Yuuto explained indignantly, smiling despite himself.
Yamada scoffed. “Normal people don’t want a bunch of strangers to hear them confess their undying love to their best friend.”
“So now your love for me is undying?” Yuuto asked quietly.
“It’s always been undying.” Yamada looked away, but Yuuto could still see, even in the dim lighting the red tints splattered over his face.
Yuuto leaned closer and whispered his name. Surprised, Yamada turned, starting to form a question, only to find Yuuto’s warm lips pressed gently against his own. Flushing hotly, Yamada’s eyes fluttered closed as he returned the kiss.
Yeah, it didn’t matter others may think of them. It didn’t matter if they never told the world the truth about them. It didn’t matter, as long as they stayed together like this.
A/N: And my first Yamajima fluff in forever sucks
