No, I've been paying over $600 a month for the prescriptions just holding out until I got my exemption. I just can't believe they declined me! I can't manage at all without them but unless I win lotto or get a higher paid librarian job (HELLO oxymoron!)i don't know what I will do.
I'm sure if I had some physical thing like angina or muscular dystrophy my drug would automatically be approved. It really sucks. I'm a curious mixture of extreme sorrow mixed with ferocious anger and a punched in the stomach feeling that no amount of shoe purchases can appease. Emigration to a subsidised country is started to look like the only way for me to get it. Feeling like shit.
It's annoying that people are going to have their gender-reassignment operations paid for by the government, but you won't be subsidised for something that you need >:I
I dunno, I still think gender-reassignment surgery should be subsidised, providing that the client is assessed correctly and has a wait period of couple of years to be sure. I think transgender issues are a biological fact and should not be classed as elective surgery. That said, I get pissed that some relative of mine got an exceptional circumstances subsidy just because she couldn'y handle a few measley side effects from her arthritis drugs when i am going to have to resort to bankruptcy, or even worse, life on a crap drug forever for no good reason. Bah Humbug.
If I was really ill right now I think I would do something matyrish to ensure nobody else ended up in the same crappy situation that I am in now.
Hello, i'm chels's sister, she pointed me in the direction of this entry as I write about psych drugs for work. hope you don't mind :)
It may be a long shot but have you thought about approaching the makers of Lamictal and asking for help? they might be keen, having patients being effectively treated with their drugs is always a good advertisment...
I don't know if it will make much difference to them who pays for the drug, as long as somebody makes it! Hopefully the generic industry in India will come up with something!
