New Member and Hamster Owner

Hi guys,
I'm Brook, I'm new to LiveJournal as well as hamster owning. I just aquired my first hamster, a male Syrian Teddy Bear named Skit. He's really shy and skittish (which is how I got his name). If you have any advice on taming him or anything else I should know about owning a hamster, please let me know in the comments.

Just take it slow with him. I used to scoop my hammies up with a towel and let them run around on my bed when I first got them to let them get used to my smell. Also giving him treats by hand will help as it will associate you with yummy good things :)
