The Prisoner of Limnos?
Lady Bujold has something I have never read before?!
Okay, now I need this.

Have you been following the Penric and Desdemona novellas? She's been writing and I think self-publishing them in her semi-retirement (as ebooks only at first, but the older ones are starting to be collected in omnibuses, about 3 to a book). They're quite fun!

Nope! I have never heard of them either.

Ah! So Prisoner of Limnos is one of the later ones of those (well, middle ones of those, at this point), so I would suggest starting with the first one (which is first both chronologically and in publication order).

These are set in the same world as Curse of Chalion, Paladin of Souls, and The Hallowed Hunt, but in a different century.

In chronological order they go:

Penric's Demon
Penric and the Shaman
Penric's Fox
Masquerade in Lodi
Penric's Mission
Mira's Last Dance
The Prisoner of Limnos
The Orphans of Raspay
The Physicians of Vilnoc
The Assassins of Thasalon
Knot of Shadows

The first three are collected in the omnibus Penric's Progress, and Mission, Mira, and Prisoner are collected in Penric's Travels. Masquerade (which was written later), Orphans, and Physicians will be collected in Penric's Labors coming out later this year.

I think the omnibuses are the only hard copy manifestations of these books outside of some fancy boutique editions.

I hope that if you track these down you enjoy them!
