Live-action AtLA, part 1 + reading roundup

I watched the first half of the Netflix Avatar the Last Airbender live action adaptation. So far, I have to confess I don't understand the people hating on it. Is it as good as the original? I have to admit I didn't much like the horror aspect in Winter's Gifts either.

Aaronovitch often tends to lean more horror in his writing than I really care for, but usually there are other things to sort of dilute it. At novella length, there was less than usual... I still enjoyed it. of course, and am always happy to see more in this universe, especially when it's been so long since the last full length Peter Grant book!

Here Be Dragons? Not yet! I usually pre-order them as soon as the paperback version becomes orderable, but I was kind of meh on the last one, so didn't make a point to track this one down... How is it? (if you've read it)
