“Ya wiped the floor with victory”
The room was filled with the last sounds of the song. They were rehearsing for the 7th anniversary live of the band, the GazettE. They’re tired like hell, slept only a few hours in the last week. Their maximalism pushed them forward, toward another day of preparing and another and another… it seemed it’s never going to have an end.
“I’m through…” said Ruki haggardly.
Uruha just slipped down on his knees finding nothing beside him to hold him up.
“Alright,” said Kai slowly. “we’re gonna have a break.”
“Two days, if I can suggest.” added Reita with a tired tone.
Aoi didn’t say a word. His head hunged down, he looked at his shoes, as if wondering how in the world was he able to stand through the last days.
Kai sighed. Their manager demanded everything of them until the point where they’re even rehearsing in their dreams. Sleep didn’t bring him peace, he was playing even while sleeping, fractions of a song, any song came up instantly as he closed his eyes. And he didn’t even sleep in his own bed. He wasn’t at home for two days, just a few hours of sleep in the restroom beside the studio in the early morning and then work again. They wanted the live to be perfect but as he looked at his bandmates, he wondered whether they will live the next day.
“I said break…” Kai saw that nobody moved a bit. “Pause…recess…intermission…no work…free time…sleep… just go…” he couldn’t continue it.
“Idiot.” Ruki headed towards the door. “Come on boys…sleep!!!”
Suddenly everybody started to move, slowly but absolutely consciuos about the fact that they don’t want to come back for hours. Kai stood up which seemed to be quite hard consodering that his legs felt numb. Great. It’s not enough that I can’t move my arms properly, now my legs hurt, too.
The restroom was filled with clothes scattered around the floor, leftovers on the table, the air heavy: their home for the last two days and for the near future. Three days left. It was the 7th of March.
A notebook on the table, three windows of the messenger program flashing impatiently because the caller couldn’t reach Aoi. Mobilephone meters away the place where Reita left it, it was buzzing his way towards the edge of the table, six missed calls, the seventh would have surely sent the device down to the floor, crashing it into pieces. But neither Aoi nor Reita seemed to care about it, they slumped onto the left couch falling instantly asleep. Ruki and Uruha took the other couch, snuggling a little bit, some grumpy words leaving Uruha’s lips as Ruki leaned on his aching arm but in the end they were sleeping in a minute or so.
Kai picked up a bottle of water and drank. The door opened and small head appeared in the opening.
“Kai san…” whispered a piping voice.
“Hanami san, please leave us…” Kai blinked back over his shoulders. “Tell our manager that if anybody comes in the next five hours, he will be dead…”
“Yes…” the small head disappeared.
Kai was sure that in four hours their manager will stomp in the room inpatiently, waking them up almost yelling. He didn’t care. Think about it… four hours of peace… he went to the corner, his sleeping bag was spred on the floor. Ha laid down, turning to his side, cradling his aching arms to his chest and drifted to sleep… and after a minute or so, he began to play the entry of „Leech”. In his dream.
------------------
Ruki woke up. What time is it? He looked at his watch and saw that he has slept about three hours… not much… but somehow he felt refreshed.
He was wondering about the past seven years. Time flew by so fast, the first months so hard but full of fun and work and then the success, the screaming fans, their first time they had to have a bodyguard, I mean ~a real bodyguard~ just to be able to go shopping, the lives, all sold out up until now. Their anniversary concert sold out also in only a few hours but they didn’t even realized it, just heard the news from their manager because they’re working their asses off during practises or in the studio while recording their new single… but even after all these, he felt something missing…
Uruha woke up beside him. He looked around yawning and stretching his body. “Awake?” He asked Ruki.
“Absolutely…I’m thinking…”
“Wow, let’s celebrate it…!” Uruha giggled sleepy about his own little joke.
Ruki suddenly sat up. “Yes, that’s it! We didn’t celebrate it!”
“He?”
“That’s the seventh birthday of our band and we didn’t celebrate it!”
“Ruki, your are insane, it ~will~ be the seventh birthday on the 10th… we will celebrate it then…”
“Ah, Uru, it’s not the same… After the live we will be fucking tired and the next day we have to go back to the studio because of the recording and mastering, it’ll be a miracle if we will be able to get a good sleep…!”
“You are exaggerating.” It was Aoi.
“Sorry for waking you up.” Uruha apologized instead of Ruki.
“Well, be sorry for me, too…” added Reita.
“Just fine… Ruki, you idiot, you have woken everybody up!” Uruha scolded the vocalist.
“Not everybody. Kai’s still sleeping…” smiled Reita gently.
They all looked in the way of the drummer lying right beside the wall just like Sleeping Beauty.
“Hey boys, let’s go out to celebrate!” Ruki practically whined. “It would be like a dream.”
“It will remain a dream, Ruki, you have to face the facts. There’s no way the manager would let us to go and have a party three days before ~the big live~.” said Aoi matter of factly.
“Actually, I could endure a few beers…” said Uruha musingly.
“Two shots of vodka for me, please.” laughed Reita.
Aoi faintly laughed. “Well, I feel like drinking a Bloody Mary… or two...”
“Bwah, I hate tomatoes…” Reita shuddered a little bit beside him.
“Alright, Aoi come with me.” said Ruki abruptly. “We’re going to convince our manager to let us to have party!”
“He?” Aoi could barely protest as Ruki jumped up from to couch, grabbed Aoi by the hand and dragged him out of the restroom.
“I smell scandal…” said Uruha quietly.
Reita laughed. “I smell vodka and beer…”
------------------
About 15 minutes or so, they came back. Uruha and Reita were quietly talking while Kai was still sleeping behind them.
“We made it!” Ruki yelled entering the room. “We made it!”
“Just becuase of me.” reminded him Aoi smiling. “So everybody up to your feet and… here comes our doom!”
Kai sat up in the coprner. “What’s…goin’ on…?”
“Wake up Kai!” Ruki jumped beside him. “We’re going to celebrate the seventh birthday of the band!!!”
“What… birthday…?”
“Ah, I don’t care, we have a free night to have fun and drink as much as we want!” yelled Ruki raising his hand up to the sky (the ceiling actually). “Come on!”
“But… we…. is playing …Reila right… now…” Kai didn’t wake up completely, the rhythm of Reila was beating in his head and he was wondering why all his band mates are standing around him with a huge smile on their face. Ruki pulled him up. They wore their crumpled clothes from yesterday but who cared, they didn’t, and that was a fact like the way they looked, rather like high school kids without enough sleep than rock stars who shake the world with their music.
Kai’s legs were wobbling, his head spinning and his sense of reality slumped into the world of fantasy with Reila playing in the background, demons with faces of his bandmates surrounding him and yelling Come on!. Ruki dragged him out of the room, the lights on the corridor hurt Kai’s eyes and he smelled cheating or at least betraying. Where’s gonna lead this night? Disaster everywhere… it was surely a conspiracy that enmeshed the whole world… Kai’s world. Down the hallway, down with the elevator, out of the building, it all seemed like a dream, a never-ending dream, with laughing around him, Kai felt out of place but still, he felt it’s alright, he had to do this. Ruki left him, Reita was on his side now, holding his hand as a mother do…or maybe a lover… awakening in him lost forgot thoughts. A van was waiting for them outside the building and with a loud roar they started their journey into the night of Tokyo.
They went first to a club, their manager reserved a table for them. Just as they arrived lovely girls surrounded them with sweet alluring smiles on their face… but all they wanted was a drink but fast… Reita won with his brilliant suggest of vodka, Uruha got a beer beside his shot so he wouldn’t complain about it all night and Kai just swimmed with the flow downing his drink feeling a little bit dizzy, his head becoming light in an instant… Where’s gonna lead this?, he asked himself as the second round arrived. But after that second shot of vodka he didn’t care anymore, it was just a dream, wasn’t it? Soon the mood rised with another vodka or beer, it was hard to follow after a while and it didn’t bother them. They shood the girls away, they were pouting but who cared, the boys wanted to celebrate to live up to their old days without managers and contracts, without obligations and punishments. All the rules they could breach that night were their rules… and the GazetE had actually no rules… So the old games began played, truth or dare and the pranks, old stories came up like that one of the blackout, Kai and Reita standing on the dark stage and their fans weren’t afraid of the darkness but shooting with the rhythm of Kai’s drums and that was the point where they all felt that it’s going to grow more and more, that they have the path in front of them that can lead them to the top. It was an intoxicating feeling and they lived it over again. Another round and there was the story of Ruki forgetting the name of the town they’re playing in, the fans screaming and laughing at him, but these were already memories and this night, they felt it for sure was also a night that flattered them with future memories... You remember, don’t you, the night of…
…the seventh birthday of the GazettE.
After an hour or so Ruki insisted yelling to have a birthday cake, he even insisted to have the name of the band on the top of it… poor club, they didn’t know that ~this~ will happen as their manager reserved a separate table for the most loved, well not indies anymore but even more rebellious band named the GazettE. Uruha began to shoot “Another place, now!” and they stumbled out of the club in the middle of Tokyo with the urge of going to a rock concert. Kai was already drunk partly (just partly) because of the little drink contest with Uruha - “Who’s going to drink his beer faster, let’s sing them!” shouted the manly Reita - and Kai won, poor him, alcohol taking the power over his body. They stopped unknown people on the street in the night to ask if they know a good live in the neighbourhood and finally Aoi shouted, “I found it!” Kai went back to the van with Reita’s help to explain the chaffeur that they don’t need him anymore, he can go home to his girlfriend, they’ll take a taxi (at the account of the company, of course). He protested but Kai struggled to seem sober and explained him to fuck off... literally. He dug it and drove away leaving them…
…free at last.
Instead of the taxi they decided to walk and reached a little already crowded club after some walk, they couldn’t tell next day how long they were walking but who cared, so they entered the club smoke and the smell of sweat hitting their nostrils bringing back those precious memories from far away from the past and they felt more lively than in the past year anytime… except the Guerilla Live maybe… The place was crowded like only the hell could be but it didn’t matter to them, they ordered a bottle of alcohol, well, it was Uruha’s duty to fetch the drink, and he simply came back with a bottle, and they shared it, like in the old times. Fun and volume, “I dont’t want anything just smoke and bass drums!” shouted Reita and Kai smiled, “I can give you that”. It was a simply crazy night. As soon as the bottle was empty they ordered a round of Fairy Coctail, the reversed version of gin tonic, two parts of gin with one part of tonic, yeah, they drank it in one and the ultimate feeling of ruling the world took over them. ‘Just wait a minute’ and Kai disappeared after the live ended, soon emerging on the stage with a shout ‘I’m calling all the members of the GazettE to the stage because if I see it properly, the sixth member of our band is alread at their place ...yeah!!!’ The line-up was perfect, two guitars and a bass, drums, a microphone for Ruki and they started to play ~Akai one piece~. And hell broke loose… they could barely manage to escape through the back exit, with the band who’s performance they came to watch originally.
“You were good” Reita said them as they parted and took Kai’s hand again and then hugging his shoulders the umpteenth time that night dragging him along to find another place. “Let’s watch a horror movie!”, it was Aoi but Uruha protested “You can’t stand them, you squeeze my hand during every horror movie we watch together” he laughed and the others laughed with him, a small pout on Aoi’s lips but nothing serious, he loved that man after all… “But popcorn is a good idea” said Ruki musingly, “fresh butter-flavoured popcorn”. “Oh, just shut up, what about some chips” Kai shouted. “And where to get it?” asked Reita so near Kai’s ear, almost alluringly too near, his breath tickling his neck… what a sweet sensation... Kai looked around embarassed and he found he knows this area, it was worth to rent an apartment near the company buliding, so he commanded the totally blind drunk band in the direction of the nearest convenience store. They practically robbed the store, choosing all the snacks they wanted to eat but their manager forbid them in the last two months and Ruki found a small cake, small like their band was at the beginning and he found candles too, shaped the number 7, “Does anyone have lighter…?” lighters seem to disappear lightly when one’s drunk, and after a laud shout “Yess!!!” they bought everything they wanted and headed to Kai’s.
Kai’s apartment was really just around the corner but on the second floor and it caused certain problems, because the elevator was too small for all of them so they decided to take the stairs. Maybe it wasn’t a good decision because they were so drunk… but they tried their best to reach the second floor, it was a real challenge in that state, Reita pulling Kai after himself, while said man was laughing like an idiot watching Aoi and Uruha together hand on the other’s waist singing some old chanty they thought everybody knew but they were so wrong and after a while they stopped, they couldn’t continue their way upstairs because of laughing but Ruki helped them pushing their asses with his hands… “I have to pee!!!” he whined and then they were somehow in front of the door of Kai’s apartment, yeah at last. Ruki rushed in inmediately as the door opened, Kai pushed Aoi and Uruha in and there were they, Reita and himself standing nervously in the doorway like teenagers on the first date Kai thought.
“It’s time for the goodbye kiss.”Reita said teasingly.
“Goodbye…?” asked Kai confused.
“Well, I thought you will find the kissing part stranger….” Reita smiled.
Kai realized his mistake because yes, he was thinking about that kiss more intensively than the fact that he didn’t want the other to say goodbye and leave. And after a second or so, Reita stepped closer and placed a nice kiss on Kai’s lips. The drummer’s head was spinning, it was just the alcohol he thought and gave in, what can happen after this, he is drunk, too “Nobody can accuse me for taking a little bit of advantge of him…” so he leaned down and kissed Reita back. Ah… those sloopy long kisses… sadly interrupted by a laud shout “Two of us are missing!” Ruki apparently returned from the bathroom… Kai sighed and released Reita whom he didn’t know to embrace that tightly up until then.
They entered the flat hand in hand smiling like idiots to find a total mess in the living room. Aoi and Uruha on the couch trying to get Ruki off of themselves because Ruki found it a marvellous idea to land on them after a not that small jump, the things they bought scattered on the floor everywhere. “What about a beer…?” shouted Uruha after he managed to escape from Ruki grabbing a can from the floor and opening it. “Hey, Kai, do you have some good music?” asked Reita rummaging on the shelves Kai held his CDs while Aoi and Ruki tried to light the candle on the small cake… it was a really hard job… It was just matter of second and the candle sparlked on the top of the birthday cake. Kai went to the kitchen to get some forks and suddenly he heard Ruki yelling “No fucking way it’s strawberry flavoured!” and some laugh after the announcement “You picked it…!” it was Aoi’s comment and Kai was laughing, too, oh, my god is this even possible? But it was as he went back to the living room, finding Ruki pouting in the farthest corner of the couch and the others already eating the cake, “Ah, I can’t believe it, you are worse than piggies…” and they laughed. Aoi suddenly started to kick Reita “Hey, it’s not fair you digging a tunnel in it, you eat only the cream!” and there came the answer of the choosy bassist “But I don’t like the pastry…” Kai shaked his head, Can you believe it?
Soon loud music filled the flat and probably the neighbour’s flat too, but who cared, well, maybe Kai did and would have started to plan the way to apologize to them if Reita didn’t interrupted with challenging him to a Playstation fight, what game, it didn’t matter. So they started to fight… and Aoi shouted from behind “Let’s fight to the rhythm of the music!” And they tried it, honestly tried. Kai was about to won, when Reita throw his console on Kai, “Hey, you idiot…!” but then he was on top of Kai, pulling him in a bearhug on the floor and Kai forgot everything as he felt the firm body of the bassist on his and felt the same tense in him and all he could think about was Wow, wow… wooowww… and it wasn’t the name of the game…
But that moment flew away and they were talking about silly things again, sitting around the little table, the cake on it, with a huge tunnel in it as Reita ate the last pice of cream out of it and they chomped the snacks, listened to the music and felt really good and after a while really tired again. Ruki laid between the table and the couch and didn’t move for some time then, the alcohol wore off of their bodies, suddenly and sadly they all felt the urge of sleeping. That was the end of the wild night of the seventh birthday of the GazettE and it was a good thing. Aoi and Uruha curled up on the couch and they didn’t care about the others as they hold onto each other tightly, the place for one man was enough for the two of them. They were yawning just like Reita and Kai so it seemed the perfect time to part and say good night. They did, Kai laid a warm blanket on Ruki who didn’t move didn’t matter how hard they tried to wake him up and then… it was just natural as Kai and Reita headed together for Kai’s bedroom.

those happenings but it would have been a waste not to continue the story.
Fairy Coctail was invented by me at a very drunk student pub raid and its effect is really the ultimate feeling of ruling the world…. XD>
