May 06, 2011 21:08

[The video feed turns on to show the view of Sayaka's room, her back turned towards the camera. In her hands were a violin and its bow, and her stance indicated that she was playing something, which some may recognize as Schubert's Ave Maria. Mozart's lessons and her nearly obsessive practicing seemed to pay off; Though there were a few mistakes ( Read more... )

[The elf waits until the music finishes before speaking softly.]

Very lovely, my dear.

[Sayaka gasps, quite startled, and turns around sharply towards the camera.]

This thing was on?! How embarrassing!

[Those are totally really not tear streaks on her face. No sir.]

No, no, not at all. You play quite well. Do not be ashamed of such.

[She tries her best to smile sheepishly.]

Oh, I'm sure it wasn't anything that great. I'm only a novice, and I've just been taking lessons for a month...

[ ... Oh. With that sort of feed, Homura can already guess what has happened. It's fairly obvious, after all, with that sort of tone in the song. But she still has to make sure, so.. ]

Kaname Madoka is no longer in this place, correct? [ Her expression nor tone betrays any specific feeling. ]

[Ugh, so it was on? How embarrassing. She didn't want anyone to see her crappy performance, especially with only a month's worth of practice. She turns slowly towards the camera.

She doesn't directly answer the question, as it should be obvious.]

... I heard that when you return to your world, it's as if nothing happened. Do all you can to get stronger here and protect her. The desert and the arena at the top of the floating mountain have monsters to fight.

I can't believe I'm saying this now, but... I'm counting on you, transfer stu---[She cuts herself off as she shakes her head, then corrects herself:]---no, Akemi-san.

[ The lack of an answer is enough to confirm Homura's suspicions, honestly. It was pretty obvious in the first place, after all. Madoka not being here anymore.. There's nothing she should let herself feel over that. This place is just a chance to get stronger, to train to defeat Walpurgis Night along and finally save Madoka. Nothing more, nothing less. So.. she shouldn't let herself feel anything.

She's silent for a moment after Sayaka's done talking before she speaks up. ]

Rest assured that it is my full intention to train as much as I can in this place. And when I get home.. I will fight to protect her to the very end.

[ A beat. ] So it's nothing you should have to concern yourself with, Miki Sayaka.

That's not enough.

[It might be selfish of Sayaka to put all these hopes and demands on Homura. But this girl was the only one she could rely on right now. The only one of the magical girls that knew the truth and still lived.]

You have to become strong enough that you don't die while protecting her too. I don't know what kind of relation you have with her, but...

I don't want Madoka... to lose another friend.

[ Colette is captivated by the piece-- it really was very pretty! Though when the music stops, her eyes widen of the realization as to how upset the girl was.

Instant concern is a go! ]

Oh! Please don't be sad!

[Sayaka flinches upon realizing that her Dreamberry was recording, and Colette's words made her tremble with annoyance. The grip on her violin and bow tightened as she replied, without turning.]

... Hey. How can you tell that to someone when you don't know the reason why they're sad?

Oh well... [ A beat. ] I thought it was a very lovely piece! It didn't sound like you messed up at all, so--

[Sayaka sighs exasperatedly.]

... There were a few sour notes, but my playing and the fact everyone saw it is really not what I'm upset about right now.
