Am I the only on that doesn't think that Kanye pulled a publicity stunt? Do you think that he wouldn't have done it if he didn't have a new album out? I just think that it wasn't the right time or place for him to say that.
i as well think it wasnt the right time to say it. i also dont see the point of what he said. I dont believe our president is fond of black people either, AND? what does that get people to do, but talk about it in their LJ, as if Kanye is a hero of some sort.
He could have told us "that" like before, or wayyy after the hurricane.
What was the intention of his comment? I still don't understand. You tell me. I'll take my Kanye comment back.
I was trying to figure that out myself. Honestly, I think he was just venting and not caring about that fact that he should be supporting a live telethon. People view him as a hero cause he dared to say it. I gave him props for doing him. I mean, he didn't want to read from a stupid teleprompter. He chose to speak from his own perspective rather than a sounding like a puppet. Unfortunately, he went a little over board. He's still the man though.
kanye was all types of way wrong. it was not the correct place to say that shit.
even if it were a race thing..none of us should be worried about it..we should be worrying for the PEOPLE just liek you said. fuck color. we're all human.
I'm glad that I'm not the only one who didn't think Kanye's comment was cute. It was so.....random. But then again I didn't actually see it myself until last night on Jimmy Kimmel.
As for the looting, I took it as though alot were acting upon survival and acute suppression. I saw the blinds removed as a light shined, exposing the true realm of American poverty in the raw. As young people scurried away from stores with boxes of Air Jordans -which perhaps some not so far removed vietnamese children helped produce for 60cents/hr. in a sweatshop-- the ideology of materialism that the likes of Kanye West and others glorify on the regular seemed attainable to these juveniles during those mere moments of trajedy and dispair. (sorry I got carried away :D)
to me it shows that "we" are all for the wrong things in life. I would have been grabbing as much food and water as possible. their minds were set upon the shoes they never had, or ever thought they could have. I think its a shame.=\
