I think it was the sheer forbidden delight of a steamy encounter between captain and first officer that contributed to the rapid and most likely extremely sticky conclusion.

Who had the conn? Perhaps even while manipulating various body parts there was a logical part of Spock's brain that was calculating precisely how long it would be until Chekov and Uhura were engaged in some distractingly sassy operations in her chair which would then allow the Klingon ship to uncloak and fire at will. (Much like Spock and Kirk were doing in the captain's quarters actually...)
