Great pictures! This is something I'm really interested in at the moment. I've been collecting my old Australian Cattle Dog's hair for the past few weeks (she's in the middle of her summer shedding). It'll still be a while before there's enough to spin a small skein, but it's kind of cool to see someone else doing something with all that hair.
I was going to ask if you were planning on making anything out of it, but I just had a stickybeak through the comments.
Once I get enough to spin a bit, I'm just planning on knitting or crocheting up a little square just to have something of her (she's getting on a bit - she'll be 18 this year).
Anyway...nice job! Makes me want to get a cat. ;o)
Thanks! When I was a kid, my family had a couple of Border Collie-Australian Shepherd mix dogs, and every spring we'd have to brush out masses of shed undercoat from both of them. We used to joke it was a shame to waste all that "wool," but at the time I knew nothing about spinning and neither did my folks. I think it's interesting that a lot of people reach that conclusion naturally, though. If the dogs were still with us, you can bet I'd be spinning away now!
Cats are good company, in addition to being fur-factories, so I'm all for people owning them. :D
If you get good results from your experiments, hope you post pics!
