Interesting. I don't often lose myself in fictional characters, but I do find myself trapped in the style of whomever I'm reading at the moment. Right now, for instance, it takes an effort not to write like C.S. Lewis.

I've noticed the same effect, myself. Not that I write fiction, but if I've just discovered a new author and have been going through their books in sequence, I find their pet turns of phrase and tropes pop up in my mind and conversations, at least until I stop reading them. Part of the mental "composting" that goes on, I suppose.

You've been reading Narnia, or something else?

Actually, I have been reading "Studies in Words," one of his last books and part of his professional work.

I've noticed it too. The effect has its plusses and its minuses.
