Focusing on the cameras, he forced himself to not cry and shed tears in mass public attention, not that he care so much about his star popularity, though it really is rather stupid to do that in public, he knew better than that. He had been in this industry long enough to know the do’s and don’ts. He knew.
Two years ago, it had been different, he was still a teenager and such thing as fame does not mean a thing to him until that very one day, where he was given many opportunities to showcase his talent.
Indeed he was really delighted to be given such a once a lifetime chance, able to do his own solo numbers and given more exposure than before. He wanted to give his all, burying himself in his work, hoping that all his hard work would benefit him in the near future. He wanted to work hard for KAT-TUN, hopefully they will get more recognized and every hardship he went through would pay off in the end.
He was after fame, hoping that his beloved group would make their name on stage, feeling the luxury of success. Everything he did, it was all because of KAT-TUN. That was what he thought at first, till the feel of success finally got to him. He enjoyed the light, the stardom that he’d totally forgotten about anything else.
Kamenashi Kazuya started to avoid his close friends, only meeting them when there is work and politely said no whenever the rest of KAT-TUN members invited him out for dinner. He wanted to concentrate on his career that is the most important. Some understood his reasoning that he probably needed some privacy since they were always together. They never said a word about it, letting nature takes its own course. They kept their silent but Akanishi Jin did not.
Jin did not like the sudden change in Kazuya, and though how hard he tried to bring his old lover back, everything he did was just useless. For every word he said just turned deaf ears on Kazuya, and that truly hurts coming from someone you love. He changed, he had turned into a complete stranger so he found no reason to continue anymore. He was no longer his Kazuya. Jin didn’t know him anymore, so what is the point of going further?
Then it won't have to hurt anymore.
“Nothing that I said makes sense to you. I’m tired of all this. Why don’t we just stop?” he remembered those words clearly, the night both of them decided to call it quits, ending their relationship just like that.
“Suits you if that is what you want, let’s just end it here.” He replied, trying to sound as normal he could be though inside, he really wanted to say no, begging Jin that he really treasure this special relationship but he didn’t, he had said the opposite of what he wanted to, he was letting his ego take control of him causing his heart to badly ache as a result.
Kazuya could see those tears forming on his former lover, he knew then he had hurt him badly but he just couldn’t go up to him, embracing him in a hug, telling him that everything he said was a lie. He wanted to but didn’t.
Kazuya watched Jin’s retreating back until it was gone. Biting his lip, he realized that he had let him go. It was all over now, and there was no turning back.
Feeling tears in his eyes, he recalled the last words Jin said to him and he had remembered it since, “It’s just stupid of me to think- I understand, I’m no longer needed. I get it. May you get what you really want, Kamenashi.”
-- ` --
"Kamenashi. During Gokusen filming, although there were many strangers, Kamenashi’s presence really helped me a lot."
Those were Jin’s exact words when he read that letter, the part that was only meant for him. Yes, he was touched by that one sentence, and thus reminded him of the past, his chapter of life that he had once locked. He remembered the guilt, the hurt he brought upon on his team mate, he remembered everything now. And it hurts thinking about it.
Jin, I’m sorry.
Facing the cameras, he kept on a straight face, listening to the rest of Jin’s letter. He wasn’t really paying attention to what was being read, though he could hear bits and pieces, he was reminiscing his- no, their past that they once shared together.
It was a stupid decision. I’ve never-
“The first one being mentioned- Kamenashi-kun.”
His thoughts were interrupted as he was asked to comment on Akanishi’s letter, he appeared to be calm on the outside but he was really nervous inside, he felt so vulnerable at this point of time.
You can cry later. For now, just be Kamenashi Kazuya.
Kazuya wanted so much to lie to the viewers, telling a different story of what happened between Jin and him but he couldn’t, he didn’t have the heart to do it. He had hurt him so much, and he couldn’t bear to reopen the wound once again.
I’m really sorry, Jin.
And so, he replied with much honesty, hiding certain facts that the public shouldn’t know. This time, there were no lies.
“Yeah, so much had happened between Akanishi and me-”
-- ` --
Looking at his own reflection in the mirror, all the sacred feelings that he had pushed away came in an instant. He hated the man that he had become, one that has no feelings and humanity. 24 hour TV filming had just ended, and here he was, staring at himself in the rest room.
“I’m sorry, Akanishi- J-Jin. I’m really sorry.” He whispered, finally letting his guard down, tears naturally forming in his brown eyes.
I’m really sorry.
Kazuya was crying freely when he heard footsteps coming his way, and without a moment’s of hesitation, he entered one of the cubicles and locked himself in. He wouldn’t want anyone to see him in this pathetic state.
Croak.
Biting his lip, he forced himself to stay quiet, sobbing silently in his heart.
-- ` --
Akanishi Jin entered the rest room with mixed feelings in his heart, he kept recalling those words Kazuya said, and looking at his expression, he could tell that the other one was not lying, in fact every single thing was the truth.
That look. It’s exactly the same that of the old Kazuya, the man that loves him like no other. It’s all coming back to him, confusing his mind.
What does this mean? Kazuya-
“Jin?”
Looking up, he saw Ueda poking his head into the room, not bothering to make another move, “You’re here. Just to let you know that the bus is already here. Better be there soon, everyone is waiting.”
“Hmm, I know.”
“Did you see Kame?”
Shaking his head, “No, I’ve not seen him. Why?”
“Um, nothing. If you see him, tell him to meet us there. The bus is waiting for both of you.”
“Hmm.” He softly replied, strangely looking at the only closed cubicle, somehow he could feel his Kazuya being so near, and his heart is beating faster than it should be.
Maybe it’s -
Holding the door knob, he opened the door only to close it back, leaning his back against the hard object, his eyes focusing on the closed cubicle.
-- ` --
Croak.
After making sure that there was no one in the rest room, that sound signaling of Jin’s leaving, Kazuya closed his eyes tightly, as he felt the hurt running through him again.
It’s all my fault that things become like this. I destroyed our relationship. I was the one who broke his trust. It was all me, the idiotic villain and Jin- the victim.
There was this burden in his heart, where he kept all his true feelings inside, afraid to let anyone know for fear of getting hurt, fear of losing the only friendship he had with Jin, just normal friends.
But this was beyond his limit as he slides down to the floor, the pain was just too unbearable.
I can’t take it anymore. I’m not strong like everyone thinks. I’m really weak! I’m nothing without- without him.
“I’ve never- stopped loving you. Not even once, Jin.” He whispered in between his sobs, burying his head onto his lap, he was really vulnerable now.
-- ` --
It was soft but Jin could grab those words that he longed to hear for so long, and finally hearing it, he really didn’t know what to do.
Kazuya isn’t lying. There is no way he would in that state.
Jin wanted so much to knock at the door, but decided not to as it was best to leave him alone for awhile. Taking a last glance at said door, he walked out of the rest room, walking to the direction where the rest were.
I’ll talk to you later, Kazuya. I will.
-- ` --
“Hello? Hmm, I’m sorry. I’ll be there right away. Hmm.” Putting on his dark sunglasses, Kazuya hoped that no one will notice the puffy red eyes beneath it, he didn’t want to worry any of his members, especially Jin.
-- ` --
Fumbling through his bag for his keys, he was hesitant to enter his house when he had inserted the key. This house- that Jin once resides before moving out following their break up was filled with total silence without him.
I don’t want to be alone.
“You’re never alone. Don’t you know that?” Kazuya froze when he heard that voice, shocked to see Jin standing right in front of him.
“Let’s go in.” Jin merely said, as he held the latter’s hands, guiding him into the house- their house.
-- ` --
“I’ll get you a glass of water.” Jin immediately said, once he assists Kazuya to the sofa, making his way to the kitchen.
“A-Akanishi, why- are you- h-here?”
Handing him the glass, Jin said calmly, “Drink this up first.”
Shaking his head continuously, he shivered at the sudden cold temperature, hugging himself furiously, as he silently wept, breaking down in front of his former lover. He didn’t care, he couldn’t take it anymore. The feeling was too overwhelming for him to suppress it any longer.
Not a word said, not even being told to, Jin pulled the fragile man into his warm embrace, hugging him gently like he used to.
“J-Jin?”
Loosening the hug, Jin looked up at his Kazuya with such tender look, “I’ve never- stopped loving you too.”
Shocked, Kazuya tried to release himself from the hug but could not since Jin’s strong arms tightly hold him, preventing him to move any further.
“Jin, let go.”
“No, I won’t let go. This time, I’m not going to listen to you. Never am I going to let go of your hand.” He emphasized, showing the hand he was holding to the latter.
“I don’t deserve you.”
Giving out a comforting smile, “That is not for you to decide. Let our hearts decide, alright?”
Kazuya looked rather hesitant for a moment before nodding his head in agreement, snuggling closer to his one and only beloved.
-- ` --
“What, Jin? You mean you were still there when- Jin! That’s not fair! That scene- it’s so embarrassing, to think you heard it!”
“Well, at the very least I know that my Kazuya still loves me, and that he was never gone. Deep down inside of you, there is my Kazuya hiding, the one that I’ve always loved. Thank you for bringing him back.” Jin finally said what he wanted to earlier.
Smiling brightly, Kazuya jumped on his lover, placing his arms on the latter’s broad shoulders.
“Jin, I’m tired.”
Since they were in an embrace, Kazuya couldn’t see the smirk forming on his face, thus not preparing for-
“Jin!! What is this? Jin, let me down!! Jin!!”
Firmly carrying the light weight, Jin just flashed out a smile before replying to his lover, “Time for bed.”
“Jin!!”
