He put down the magazine he was currently reading in anger, the page that has Koki and his lover was turned to. Jin did not even bother to read the contents of that particular page as seeing the image alone of ‘KoKame’ was starting to get on his nerves.
They were so close in contact, how could he not feel jealous?
Only he was able to touch Kame that way!
Flipping the magazine back to its cover page, Jin got up from the dressing area to the sofa, leaving the magazine that had dropped to the floor. Trying to calm his disturbed thoughts, he glanced at the clock on the wall, his mouth gaped open when he realised the time.
He was really early … an hour early to be exact!
No wonder there was no one when he was being ushered to KAT-TUN’s dressing room. Shaking his head, Jin leaned his body against the cool fabric and closed his eyes, falling into a deep slumber.
The rest of KAT-TUN won’t arrive till an hour later anyway. Well except for his beautiful Kame who was always the first to arrive.
-
Jin frowned when member by member entered the room but he did not see Kame at sight. It was so unusual for him to be the one of the few last to arrive at the scheduled spot. Jin scanned the room again, his eyes widened when he realised that Koki too was not here yet!
As if answering his question, the door opened at that instant, revealing Koki and Kame. The both of them greeted the others as they entered the dressing room. Jin blinked once when Kame just passed him without even giving him a kiss on the cheeks, let alone greet him. He turned his view towards his lover who was settling himself in front of the dressing table.
Why did Koki and Kame enter at the same time? Did they come together to the photo shoot set?
Jin fumed in annoyance at that thought. Kame had bluntly rejected his proposal to come to the set together even though he had tried too hard to convince the younger man. Kame had rejected him as his lover and accepted Koki who was only a friend?
How unfair was that?
He stomped his feet like a child, making irritating noise as a result, hoping that that would catch Kame’s attention but apparently, it did not. Kame was busy applying make-up on his face to the extent of ignoring that petty noise.
Jin crossed his arms and pouted.
-
On the photo shoot set, Jin stared at the photographer ridiculously. He was totally out of his mind! Jin didn’t mind pairing up with Ueda since they were pretty good friends but that stupid director had actually teamed Koki and Kame for the pair shots.
Why couldn’t Kame be paired up with Nakamaru or Taguchi instead?
The pairings for the pair shots had always been Jin-Kame, Ueda-Taguchi and Nakamaru-Koki all these while. Why had this change the moment he came back to Japan? Suddenly the pairings took a large twist of events.
The fans actually liked KoKame more than Akame now?
Jin rolled his eyes in disgust as he crossed his arms, trying to control his frustration.
“Are you guys alright with this pairing? If you think you’re not comfortable with your chosen partner, you could change.” The photographer said, reassuring them.
Jin immediately turned to face Kame. His eyes pleading to have him change his partner.
“No, Koki’s fine.” Kame said.
Jin’s face fell the minute his lover announced that. He was literally burning with jealousy when Koki dared to sling his arm over Kame’s shoulder, whispering something in his lover’s ears to which the latter nodded and laughed out loud.
He stared at the two in disbelief.
“You’re jealous, huh?” Ueda whispered, smirking.
The both of them was getting ready in front of the cameras since they would be the first to shoot the pair shots, the other pairs was hanging around the set.
“What? Jealous? No such thing.” Jin muttered at the same time eyeing the KoKame pair with devilish pair of eyes.
Ueda followed Jin’s gaze, his smirk grew even wider.
-
Sitting on the chair after his pair shots were taken, Jin grinned when he saw Koki coming in his way. Absent-mindedly, he lifted up his right leg suddenly causing Koki to fall flat on the floor, not able to see that coming.
“Ouch!!!” Koki exclaimed as he held onto his head.
Jin tried to stifle his laughter but quickly stopped when he saw Kame stared at him. “Ooops. I’m sorry?” He made a pathetic expression to his lover.
“What the hell do you think you’re doing?” Kame hissed, pushing Jin out of the way as he helped Koki up to his feet. “Are you okay, Koki?” He asked nicely, leaning closer to search for any injury.
“I’m okay.” Koki smiled, showing his white teeth. “Don’t worry.”
“I’m glad. Let’s not bother this idiotic man. Let’s go.” Kame said, walking towards the set with Koki following behind, leaving Jin staring at their backs in disbelief.
He headed towards the box of water bottles, taking the one marked with Koki’s name. He then walked out of the studio and into the direction of their dressing room, throwing the bottle into one of the nearest dustbins.
-
Alone in the dressing room, Jin looked at the six packed bento. Taking one on his hold, he emptied a few packets of pepper onto the rice, mixing it properly, making it look as if no one had touched it before. After he was done with that, Jin placed the bento onto Koki’s dressing table, feeling satisfied.
He then placed the remaining bento onto the other dressing tables, a bottle next to the packed lunch except for Koki’s. He poured out Koki’s bottle of water into the sink, emptying it completely before throwing it into the trash.
Jin took one last look at his piece of work, grinning all the way as he headed back to the studio.
-
In the studio, Koki hadn’t notice that his bottle of water was missing as he was concentrating really hard in shooting his pair photos with Kame. Even when their shots were done, he didn’t feel thirsty.
“Are you sure you want to continue with this act, Kame? You know how Jin acts when he gets jealous. He’s taking it well for now.” Koki whispered as he positioned his seat closer to Kame. Coincidentally, Jin enters the studio and managed to capture that intimate scene. He froze in his tracks.
“Well, serves him right for flirting with a girl the other day.” Kame muttered, his tone really annoyed by the sound of it. “I’m just getting back at him. That’s all.”
“Fine, don’t say that I didn’t warn you.” Koki sighed, leaning back against his chair.
Unknown to them, Jin started to feel uneasy, not knowing what was going on. Kame had been avoiding him, not even spoke to him a sentence, and the two of them were flirting as if he did not exist at all.
Was he the one in Kame’s heart or had their positions changed without him realising?
The entire photo shoot and the interview went on with one Akanishi Jin looking glum. Ueda noticed this but he kept quiet instead, not wanting to meddle in the couple’s relationship troubles.
-
“It’s hot!!! My god!” Koki screamed the minute he tasted his food, his tongue was burning. Pushing the packed lunch aside, he scanned for an extra bottle of water, only to no avail. “Ahhh, it’s really hot!” He waved his hand over his tongue effortlessly.
“Eh, are you sure, Koki? It’s not hot at all for me.” Nakamaru said, tucking into his food heavenly, the other members nodded in agreement.
“It’s hot, okay! Ah, where the hell is my bottle?” Koki asked exasperatedly.
Jin was watching the scene in amusement, pretending not to know anything as he put on an innocent face. No one would notice that it was his doing.
“You can have some of mine.” Kame immediately offered his bottle. “Since your packed lunch is too hot to be eaten, you can share mine as well.” He purposely raised his volume when he spoke that sentence, as if directing to someone.
“But Kame-chan … that will be like an indirect kiss!!!” Koki exclaimed in shock, his hand over his mouth.
“Not as if anyone cares.” Kame sat closer to his friend, putting his packed lunch on Koki’s dressing table, the bottle on Koki’s hold as he took a gulp, feeling better than ever.
Meanwhile, Jin’s hold on his chopsticks came to a stop as he recalled Kame’s harsh words. He didn’t have the mood to eat anymore as his eyes glittered with tears.
-
Only the five of them were left in the dressing room, Jin had left earlier than anyone else. Usually the Akame pair would leave together with a smile, this time it was different. Noticing the sour mood in the couple, Ueda walked over to Kame who was packing his bag.
“Are you two having a fight? Both of you have not even spoken a word to one another today.” Ueda looked at the youngest member in concern. He decided that he had to interfere in their love matters after all. Jin looked really down when he left the room. Something must be wrong.
“It’s nothing.” Kame murmured, ignoring his friend.
“To think of it, that’s true, Ueda! What’s with the flirting with Kame all about, Koki? You know you’ve reached over the limits. It’s okay to be close with Kame but not to the extent of making Jin jealous!” Nakamaru paused. “Wait, Jin … jealous? You two were trying to make him jealous?”
“It was Kame’s idea.” Koki admitted.
“Eh? I thought it was real!” Taguchi exclaimed in surprised.
“Shut up, Taguchi.” Nakamaru scolded him, turning to face the youngest member. “But why? Did Jin do something bad to make you this upset, Kame?”
“He flirted with a girl right in front of him, even held her waist. They were in a bar apparently.” Koki answered on behalf of his friend.
“Jin got what he deserved. That should be enough, shouldn’t it? You have to tell Jin the truth before things go wrong, Kame.” Ueda advised.
“Don’t worry. Jin’s not that stupid to believe the act that Koki and I put. He’ll be fine.” Kame slings his bag over his shoulders and left the room, leaving four worried friends behind.
Maybe, just maybe … Kame had underestimated Jin.
It had nothing to do with one’s intelligence in the matters of love, after all Jin too had an important feeling called emotion.
-
Kame was walking towards the train station when his cell phone rang. He picked up without even looking at the caller ID. “Hello?” He answered the call, wondering who had called him.
“Kame …”
He frowned at the tone of the caller on the other side. “Jin, are you drunk?”
“I’m not!” Jin retorted. “I’m heartbroken, Kame.”
“Eh?”
“You ignored me the whole day, acting as if I wasn’t there at all. Do you know how much that hurts?” Jin hiccupped, pausing for a short while. “Today, you made me realise something. You don’t need me anymore, am I right? You don’t love me anymore …”
“Jin, it’s not what ...” you think it is.
“Kame, you don’t have to lie anymore. The fact is you’ve found another who you love more than me. The way you looked at Koki was the same look you flashed me. It’s okay if I have to sacrifice my love as long as you’re happy. It would hurt a lot at first but I assure you that I will be alright.”
“Jin ...”
“But why, Kame? Why …? Am I not good enough for you? I love you so much … “Jin sobs turned into erratic cries as he poured his heartfelt feelings to the younger one. Kame listened to his cries silently for a full minute before the connection died.
His plan to get back at Jin totally backfired as it not only make his lover jealous but also successfully convinced the other that he had fallen in love with Koki. He ended up running to the train station, clutching his bag tightly.
Kame realised that he had indeed gone too far this time.
-
“Jin!”
Kame shouted for his lover’s name the moment he entered the latter’s apartment. He rushed towards Jin when he saw him sprawled on the sofa, his eyes closed. Without hesitation, Kame shook his body gently. His heart hurt when he saw stained tears on Jin’s cheeks.
Jin’s eyes slowly fluttered open. His view became clear soon after, taking in the form of Kamenashi Kazuya in confusion. “Hmm, Kame?”
Why are you here? Shouldn’t you be …?
“Jin, I’m sorry! It was a misunderstanding. I didn’t mean to make you think that I’ve fallen for Koki! I swear the one I love is you and only you! There is no one else for me except you.” Kame started to explain, holding onto Jin’s hand firmly, emphasising his point.
“Then why …?” Jin asked, his voice barely a whisper.
“I was trying to make you jealous. I saw you flirting with a gorgeous girl that time we went to a bar. I just wanted to get back at you. That’s all. I didn’t expect you to really believe the act Koki and I had put. I ended up hurting you. I’m sorry, Jin.” Kame looked up at his lover in shame but never once did he try to let go of his hold.
Jin sat up abruptly, trying to process the information Kame had just told him. He blinked.
“Eh? So everything that I saw was all an act?” Jin asked to confirm his conclusion.
Kame nodded, taking a seat next to Jin. “Besides I’m just being nice to Koki, it’s nothing more than that. Don’t worry.”
“You scared me, Kame! I thought I really lost you!” Jin pulled him into a hug, he felt truly relieved at Kame’s confession. Even if his tears were for nothing, he was glad that they were still together. He had said to Kame earlier on the phone that he would be okay without him but in fact, his life would be meaningless without him in it.
“I’m sorry, Jin.” Kame whispered. “Sorry.”
Jin shook his head, a smile lifted on his face as he leaned closer to Kame, pulling the younger one into one deep kiss. Kame closed his eyes as he relished into the moment.
-
“You put packets of pepper into Koki’s bento?” Kame’s tone that of amused as he looked at Jin for an answer. He understood Jin’s reason to be jealous but to that extent it was simply hilarious.
“He deserved it for flirting with my boyfriend!” Jin pouted.
“Poor Koki.” Kame let out a laugh. “I’d have to apologise to him.”
“You didn’t mean it, right? When you mentioned that no one cares about Koki and you having an indirect kiss.” He had to ask, that sentence had broken him earlier today.
“Did I hurt you when I said that?” Noticing the expression Jin gave him, Kame hugged him. “Sorry, honey. I truly did not mean everything I said to you today. What I say was the total opposite.”
“Opposite?” Jin repeated.
Kame nodded.
Smiling, Jin pushed his lover onto the surface of the bed causing him to squeal in surprise. He then climbed on top of the other’s body, leaning closer to the pouted lips, pulling the blanket to their heads with his free hand.
The jealousy ended up with a disaster in a way. This however made Kame realise that everything has a limit, and as much as he loved to see Jin’s cute reaction, it was not worth to have their relationship tore apart just because of that.
He had made Jin swear to not flirt with any other girl or anyone else for that matter.
If Jin happened to break his vow, Kame knew exactly what to do. When that happens, he had to be extra careful and would ensure that Jin knew that he was flirting with others only to make him jealous.
It wouldn’t happen, Kame determined.
Because I believe in you …

Author’s Note: I’m really surprised that I wrote this one-shot in just a day!Usually one-shots took a longer time than a chapter of a multi-chapter of a fanfic.
