“Jin! Jin!!!”
Toddler Kame ran towards him and handed him the items that he wanted. He held a drawing block, a set of colourful crayons and markers in both of his hands, flashing Jin an excited expression.
Jin placed aside the magazine he was browsing and nodded, putting the items Kame handed into the basket. He had wanted to buy only a few necessities here in this stationery shop but Kame could not resist grabbing every item he set his eyes on, not that he minded. He’d buy anything and spend any amount on his beloved Kame, as long as the younger one is happy.
“Is there anything else you want, honey?”
Kame looked at the basket full of items then shook his head with a shy smile.
“No, that’s all.”
“Let’s go and pay then.” Jin held the basket with one hand, the other holding Kame’s hand tightly.
“Ame want draw pictures!”
Jin’s lips curved into a smile, patting him on the head lightly before turning his attention back to the saleswoman. He murmured his thanks when he was handed his change, taking the plastic bags with him.
“Here you go.” Jin handed Kame the lightest plastic bag the instant they were outside the shop.
Kame literally peeked into the plastic bag and squealed in delight, “Awing Block! Crayooonssss!!!!”
Jin wanted to kiss the toddler on the lips for being so cute over the slightest thing but he didn’t get the chance when his cell phone suddenly rings. “Stay here, okay? Don’t go anywhere.” Jin informed the toddler before picking up his phone.
Kame held the plastic bag and waited, he was going to listen to Jin’s words. He however got distracted when he sees a man holding strings of colourful balloons, walking ahead. Kame wanted a balloon badly!!
But Jin …
He looked at Jin who was busy chatting on the phone then back to the man who would disappear from his sight soon. Kame stared at the pretty balloons and decided. He hastily dropped the plastic bag he was holding and followed the balloons.
Balloon, wait for Ame!!!
-
“Hmm, okay. I’ll talk to you later.” Jin hung up his phone, “Kame, let’s go ...”
Jin almost dropped his phone at the sight in front of him. Kame was nowhere to be seen, the plastic bag the toddler had been holding was lying on the floor. Jin grabbed the bag and searched for the toddler frantically.
“Kame!”
-
“Mister, I want a balloon …” Kame said, pointing towards the colourful balloons.
“Actually this is not for give-away …” The man holding the balloons paused and looked down at the toddler. Seeing the expression on the little one’s face, he knew he could not reject him. He bent down and handed him a balloon. “Here you go, just don’t tell anyone, okay?”
Kame nodded happily, holding the string firmly. “THANK YOU!!!”
The man chuckled, patting Kame’s head and walked away.
Kame looked up at the pink balloon he received and smiled. He turned around eagerly, wanting to show the balloon to Jin when realisation suddenly sinks in. Jin was not there behind him. He thought that the latter had followed him but apparently, Jin didn’t.
“Jin …”
The toddler tried to find his way back to the stationery store but he ended up losing his way, not knowing where he is. Kame walks to a dark corner of the streets and leaned against the wall, hugging the balloon. His lips quavered as he started to cry.
“Jin, Ame scared …”
-
After crying for a whole ten minutes, Kame had run out of tears. With eyes red and swollen, he looked up, hoping to see Jin amongst the crowd. His eyes lightened up when he spots someone who looks just like Jin. He immediately gave that man a chase when he recognised who it was.
“Leo …” Kame whispered, running as fast as he could. When he finally caught up with the man, Kame tugged on the other’s jeans. “LEOOO!!!”
“Hey! What-“ Akanishi Reio was about to snap at whoever that stopped his movement. His eyes softened when he sees a toddler standing by his legs. “Where is your mummy? Are you lost, little kid?”
Kame nodded his head, “Ame lost! Ame want Jin! Leo call Jin, pleaseeeeeee?”
Ame? Jin?
Reio blinked in confusion. Is his elder brother related to this kid in anyway? He had not seen him before.
“Leo, please!” Kame continued tugging on Reio’s pants. “Ame don’t know how to go home alone! Ame no money! People kidnap Ame if Leo doesn’t call Jin! LEO!!!” His eyes watered as he said that.
“Okay, okay … I’ll call. Don’t cry.”
Noticing that they were standing in the middle of a street, Reio carried the toddler and stood in front of MacDonalds. With a toddler on one arm, Reio called his brother.
“Ice cream…” Kame murmured, licking his lips.
-
Jin was panicking. He searched Kame everywhere. He even entered the stationery shop back in hopes of finding the toddler there but to no avail.
Where did Kame go?
He immediately picked up his phone when it rings. “Hello? Reio? Now, it’s not the right time …”
“No, it’s important. I was walking along the streets of Shibuya when a toddler by the name of Ame approached me. He says he’ll be kidnapped if I don’t call you. Do you know him, onii-chan?”
Jin was supposed to act panic but hearing that from Reio, he could not resist a chuckle. So Kame’s safe with his younger brother, he heaved a sigh of relief.
“JIN! Ame with Leo!”
Hearing Kame’s voice made his heart ease, “Reio, can you pass the phone to Kame?”
“Kame …? You mean …”
“Yes, that’s my Kame. He turned into a toddler a few weeks ago.” Jin whispered.
“Eh, is that so? No wonder this small guy knows my name. So its Kame … Strange things happens to you both, huh?” Reio let out a laugh. “Ame, your Jin wants to talk to you.”
“Jin?” Kame called out his name with uncertainty.
“It’s me, sweety.”
“JIN! Ame so scared! Ame don’t know what to do so Ame cry … but Ame saw LEO! Leo saved Ame, Jin!”
“From being kidnapped?”
“Hnnn!”
-
Jin rushed to the place Reio and Kame were. His worries vanishes the instant he sees Kame in his brother’s arms. He ran the remaining distance, standing next to Reio in no time.
“JIN!” Kame exclaimed in delight, reaching out his hands towards him.
Jin immediately took the toddler in his arms, and kissed him on the forehead, hugging him tightly. He flashed an appreciative look to his younger brother. “Thanks, Reio.”
“No problem. You must have been worried sick, right?”
“Yeah.” Jin turned his attention to the toddler. “I’ll give this guy a scolding when we get back home.”
Kame pouted.
“No scolding! Ame just want balloon! See …?” Kame showed Jin the balloon he had gotten, a large smile adorning his face. “Ame want balloon but Jin still talking so Ame follow man, so now … Ame got balloon!!!!”
“You …” Jin murmured.
Reio shook his head, amused by the situation. “Toddlers are sure hard to handle.”
“Yeah.” Jin replied.
“I’ll get going then. I have an appointment actually, which I would be late for if not for …this cute little guy here.” Reio eyed the toddler teasingly, tickling him.
“LEOO!! Hahaaa ….” Kame giggled.
“See you later.” Reio waved, disappearing into the crowds.
Kame nodded, “BYE BYE!”
“Let’s go home …”
“No! Ame want ice cream! MacDonalds!!!” Kame interrupted, pointing towards the door of the fast food.
“We still have a box of ice cream at home, honey.”
Kame shook his head, “AME don’t want that ice cream! AME want MacDonald’s ICE CREAM!!! MC FLURRY ….”
“A ‘No’ is a ‘No’, you understand?” Jin reprimanded Kame, he was about to make a step forward when the toddler started his tantrum, punching Jin with his small hands.
“NOOOOO, AME STILL WANT MC FLURRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
Jin murmured an apology to the people around him, who passed strange looks at him. Toddler Kame was obviously too loud, he sighed. The younger one was so fidgety that Jin nearly dropped him. He brought Kame up to his chest and held him real firm.
“MC Flurry …”
Jin sighed once again, admitting defeat. “Okay, I’ll buy you your ice cream, but first what must you say?”
“Ame love Jin!”
Jin blinked, “Well I didn’t expect that but that will do.” He murmured, kissing Kame on the cheeks.
“YAY! MC FLURRY!”
-
They ended up buying two sets of meal plus two Mc Flurry from MacDonalds. Jin’s lips curved into a smile, seeing the toddler eating his ice cream happily. Once he was done fastening Kame’s seatbelt, he did his, and started the engine of the car.
“It’s delicious!!!!!” Kame exclaimed, closing his eyes in delight. “Jin wants some?”
Jin nodded, letting the toddler spoon fed him. “Hnn, it’s really nice.”
“See? Ame told you so!”
Jin ruffled the toddler’s hair playfully, “Let’s go home now, okay?”
“Hmm!!!” Kame fed himself yet another spoonful of ice cream.
-
“Jin, Ame want draw!” Kame said the minute he finishes eating.
“No, let’s have you bath first.” Jin lifted Kame up from the sofa and carried him towards their bedroom.
“But Jin … Ame want draw first!”
“Well, its fine if you don’t want to bath with me …” Jin said slowly, as if teasing the toddler. “Since that is the case, I’ll go bathe first while you …”
“NO! AME BATH WITH JINNNNN!!!!” Kame immediately wrapped his arms around Jin, and clung to him for dearly life.
Jin smirked in satisfaction.
-
“Ame want draw … Ame want draw …” Kame sang, skipping out of the bedroom with his drawing block, crayons and other drawing utensils in his hands. He was done bathing, and had changed into a new pair of clothes.
“Hmm, where Ame going to draw?” He murmured, scanning the living room. He finally settled on the floor near to the balcony and began drawing. “Hmmm Huhumm …”
Jin smiled, seeing the toddler engrossed in his current task. He immediately headed towards where Kame is.
“What are you drawing …?” Jin’s smile brightened when he sees what Kame had drawn.
I
JIN
Jin positioned himself on the floor, his body and hands leaning against the cool wooden floor.
“Jin …” Kame smiled shyly when he realised that Jin was next to him. He held the crayon in his hand and looked at Jin.
“Go on, continue.” Jin encouraged, handing him a pink crayon. “Colour the heart, honey.”
Kame did as he was told, his lips curved into a smile he saw the finished result.
“For Jin!!!”
He handed the adult the piece of drawing paper.
“Thank you.”
Unable to contain his giddiness, Jin pulled the toddler closer to him and kissed him feverishly on the lips. He pulled away a few seconds later, confused when he sees Kame’s eyes had turned red and there were traces of tears in those beautiful brown orbs.
“Sweetheart, what’s wrong?” Jin panicked instantly, cupping Kame’s cheeks.
“Ame happy … Jin loves Ame ...”
“Silly, I will always love you.” Jin placed the toddler on his laps, flashing him a serene expression. “And I know you feel the same way too, right?”
Kame nodded, “Ame LOVE Jin!!!”
“So don’t cry anymore, okay?” Jin got up, Kame in his arms as he stood by the balcony’s door.
“Ame cry because Ame happy …” The toddler pouted.
“Jin happy too.”
A smile formed on Kame’s lips as he wrapped his arms around Jin’s neck.
“So are you going to continue drawing?” Jin asked.
Kame shook his head, and yawned. “Ame don’t want draw anymore. Ame want to stay like this …” He rested his head on Jin’s shoulder and closed his eyes, falling asleep seconds later.
“Time for your afternoon nap …” Jin whispered patting the toddler’s back.
