I like how this flows. I can also appreciate the archetypal plotline of no one ever thinking in advance to plan ahead for technology that will outsmart your best intentions (although I do know several developers whose primary responsibility is to do precisely that, as well as others whose job it is to plan around the unpredictable nature of humans) - still... it always makes for a good story, and has even been seen in history at times. Perfect take on this prompt... well done!
