And I know I probably don't need to say this, if you're following me here, but: I will ban with extreme prejudice anyone who crossposts a comment here to Twitter or Facebook. But I suspect all of you are too

I'm so Internet-stupid -- are you referring to these new "facebook" and "twitter" boxes beneath the comment box?

Yep. If you were to choose to link up your LJ account to your Facebook and Twitter accounts (obvs. not recommended), you could choose to crosspost not only your own posts, but your comments on other people's posts (even locked ones) to Facebook or Twitter.

The disadvantages of this scheme are, as you might imagine, profound.

Absolutely loved the novel-was haunted by it for days, and hopefully the movie will be anything near as good.
