Age: 18.

Personality: Considering that Hikaru has a lot of similar personality traits with his twin brother Kaoru, it would make more sense to first get into those, then follow it with his own personal ones.

Hikaru and Kaoru are the 'Devil Type' in the Host Club, and this is because they are reckless and major trouble makers. They love to plot games and pull pranks on everyone they see. They are the two that create the most mischief in the club and they do what they can to make things less boring. Most of the time it seems like they're doing things on the fly, but the truth is that they plan all of the serious games they play. They're amazing actors in the sense that they can have you believing that they feel one way, but then turn right around and reveal that it was all being faked. The pair go into things/projects/games with the energy of a full blow tornado, but the moment it gets boring or lacks any enjoyment, they will leave it at the drop of a hat and find something more interesting to do.

However, if it looks boring from the get-go, they won't even waste the energy trying. Growing up, they were very much in their own little world but since Tamaki came around and befriended them they've come out of their shell and are rather outgoing.

He is the twin that gets the most development throughout the series but that's mostly because he is the loudest of the two. If you were asked to describe him you would hear words like jerk, ass, blunt, insensitive. And he doesn't think about things before he says them which can often lead to hurt feelings. In the set, he is the dominant one but he is also a contradiction because he is more childish than Kaoru and definitely more immature. He still throws fits when his feelings get hurt and Kaoru is usually the one trying to make up for Hikaru's stubbornness. He's trying to work on growing up, but it's hard and he still thinks of people as toys because he believes they are there for his (and Kaoru's) amusement.

Kaoru is his most important person and he will always, no matter what, come before anyone else. He loves Kaoru and has no problem showing that (he shows this more so than Kaoru, but that's because Hikaru wears his heart on his sleeve). When ever Kaoru gets hurt, he genuinely freaks out and worries. For instance, during summer vacation when Tamaki insisted that they all visit Haruhi at the Pension estate, a vase falls and cuts Kaoru on the cheek. When Hikaru found his brother bleeding, he rushed over and the worry was sincere. Of course, they play this all off as being something planned and part of their game, but when the two got back up to the room Hikaru is visibly shaken over the injury (however minor).

He doesn't like to be separated from Kaoru if he can help it either. On Halloween when they were separated, Hikaru was the frantic twin who was searching for his matching half. Kaoru is also the only one who ever really sees Hikaru's true feelings on things. Twins intuition also gives Kaoru the talent of knowing if Hikaru is hiding certain things from him. Sadly, this is not a shared trait. Hikaru can be a little dense and not see or feel how Kaoru is feeling. He's actually pretty oblivious to other people's feelings in general.

Haruhi became a staple in Hikaru's life however as the series progressed. In the beginning he found her fun to tease because of her commoner background and the fact she wasn't from a rich family. But as things continued, he realized he was wrong about her. She was perceptive enough to be able to tell himself and Kaoru apart. She knew the subtle differences in the two and that was something that the twins have always found important. Now, it wasn't just Kaoru. There was Haruhi as well. Since she was able to tell the difference, it opened his eyes to the fact that maybe other people could as well.

Haruhi is a complicated subject though. Again, at the Pension estate, the group are met by a boy named Arai who went to middle school with Haruhi. Haruhi and Arai have a past (if you can call it that), where Arai formerly had a crush on her but was ultimately denied because Haruhi misunderstood him. Hikaru had begun to care about Haruhi at this point and he was letting her into his and Kaoru's world, so when he was faced with this 'new' guy - he rebelled against the idea that Haruhi needed other friends. He became snarky and rude to Arai, completely disregarding him as a person and even taking his frustration out on Haruhi. Until, that is, she slapped him for being an ass. Kaoru makes it up to Haruhi by posing as Hikaru and asking her out on a date. He promised her he would show her a good time, but, instead he fakes sick so Hikaru can actually go on the date with Haruhi.

Surprisingly enough, Hikaru enjoys his time with Haruhi even though his twin is no where in sight (except that he and the host club had followed them around all day and were spying on them for fun). But things couldn't stay sunshine and rainbows for long. Haruhi and Hikaru run into Arai and there is another bout of jealousy that causes Hikaru to abandon Haruhi there with the other boy. It begins to rain and Hikaru is content with being annoyed and sulking about the whole thing until he learns that Haruhi is afraid of storms. He then runs through town searching for the girl until he finds her hiding in the church from the storm. He gives the girl his headphones and turns the music up to drown out the thunder and though Haruhi doesn't hear it - he apologizes for leaving her, for everything.

At the end of the episode, Hikaru 'makes up' with Arai and everything turns out okay. The whole situation means a lot more than you see at first glance. Hikaru realized that he was wrong and the fact that he realized this himself, was a big feat. On top of that, he apologized along with trying to be nice to another person which cost him a lot of maturity. He proved to himself that he could learn to let other people in, and not just the one's he cares about.

Jealousy, like the kind he feels with Arai, is caused because Hikaru still hadn't realized that he had feelings for Haruhi. Since he spent so much time with just Kaoru, he didn't realize that he was holding on too tightly to her as well, so the thought that she might care for someone else was too much.

He doesn't allow anyone into the little circle he and Kaoru created together until he accepts them. He doesn't mind letting people close, but they're never allowed within those walls he has up unless he says it's okay. Tall, sturdy walls that he holds close to everything he has inside. He's overprotective of Kaoru and now Haruhi as well. But again, Kaoru will always come first.

Now, Hikaru isn't always a jerk. In fact, he is very capable of being respectful and grateful if the situation calls for it. He shows these kinds of things for Tamaki because he was the one who introduced him to the Host Club and to the idea that their world could expand if they let it.

Though, he still thinks Tamaki has soup for brains and it oblivious to most things in general, but he also gets that Tamaki has something special about him that makes you want to be a better person. Hikaru likes to make a stink about Tamaki's orders but in the end, he follows them. Tamaki took the time and effort to pull Kaoru and himself out of their shells, and an interest in their happiness, so Hikaru is more than willing to help and protect the things and ideas that Tamaki hold dear. When the president of the newspaper club tries to ruin Tamaki's image and reputation, he and the rest of the club intercede to protect it (even though Tamaki isn't even aware they did). The club loves Tamaki - and, even though he's never said it out loud, so does Hikaru.

Hikaru and Kaoru are from a rich family so typically, he grew up in luxury and he knows how the rich live. Whether it's fine food, fashion, you name it - he knows it. So obviously he would act like a spoiled, rich brat who holds his social status high and keeps people who he see's as lower than himself at a distance. Commoners, are toys and he likes to play with them. He is judgemental in that way. But he does find some of the 'commoner' things interesting and since he gets bored easily he wouldn't mind trying out that sort of lifestyle out for awhile which is why he and Kaoru decide to study abroad in America with Haruhi!

To majority of the people Hikaru comes off as rude and immature, but as time passes he is finding more and more middle ground that is helping him to grow up and put away (some) childish things and ways of behavior.

Powers/Abilities: Hikaru doesn’t have any powers or abilities per say, unless you count the connection he has with Kaoru. They can mirror each other’s speech and actions on an uncanny level and for the most part come up with the same idea’s and solutions. As a set, their trouble making talents could be considered a weapon if it were possible. He also has an eye for fashion thanks to his mother.
