Though I love, love, love the idea of an overgown with the mandarin collar, due to the fact that my fiancé feels that the mandarin jacket would make him appear like a waiter, he has gone for the more traditional suit, a la Clooney:

My dear, the boat-neck gown would not be an undergown, but a gown that stands alone.

Darling, I am getting a Nehru. It's just that it'll be a tux with a shawl lapel, and yes, that it comes with a standard collar, but there will be a shirt with a Nehru collar as well, as an option.

It's in the email. This and the SMS you sent me (Wednesday night, darling; today's Tuesday) just now make me wonder if you've reading things properly or not. Are you okay?

What do mean you can't find a mandarin collar overgown? Plenty of near examples available, although lacking on the net. And guess what, they're made of lace too.
