This season has me busy keeping up with my DVD recordings. The series that are my absolute favorites so far are:
Battlestar Galactica
Lost
Heroes
Dexter
These are the series I have to see. There are others I record then watch. So, a few comments on my favs.
This series just keeps getting better all the time. I think that watching the progression of the rescue through the eyes of those in space and those on New Caprica is facinating.
A resistance is an easy thing to start if you have little to lose but your own life, but as Tigh's wife and Tyrol are finding out, resistance can end with a big bang and you could lose more than a battle. The Cylon occupation isn't going as smooth as planned. People are fighting the enlightenment the Cylons are trying to offer. Of course it's not just the constant bombings that have the Cylons bugged it's the fact they seem to become more like their parent humans. Cylons clearly don't respect death unless there is no chance of being downloaded again.
I find the relationship between Leoben and Starbuck perplexing. Leoben is so sure that Starbuck will take him in her arms and tell her she loves him (any Buffy fans can remember how that turned out for Spike). He simply takes what he wants (Starbuck) and doesn't even pause to kill her human husband (well, that could back-fire as well). His ace in the hole seems to be the child he says is a product of his and Starbucks. Is the way she seems so concerned about her injured child (remember her childhood was marred by physical abuse and negligence) that she would start to care for her constantly reborn again captor?
The best part is Adama trusting Sharon enough to sign her up to fight for the humans left on New Caprica.
The gunshots at the end of the show could be Sharon and her fellow rescuers interrupting the execution.
Now the Cylons. Funniest part of the evening was the sex between Ellen and Cavil. She was the most unlikely Cylon agent. Does she really love her husband that much?
Watching the Cavils, Sharons, Six's argue (in front of the pet President Baltar) about what to do with the human problem proves that they have learned nothing from the mistakes humanity made that ultimately created the current humanoid Cylons.
Well, they can't stay on New Caprica forever. I hope that Apollo starts hitting the stairmaster and helps his dad get humanity back onboard.
I can't say much about Lost as I'm waiting to see just what happens next. Best part of the night was when Zeke tells Sawyer that the Bears figured out the puzzle sooner, and Sawyer never lost for words could only ask "how many bears were there?"
We get to see that the cheerleaders powersof rejeneration are almost limitless. I think next week she will sit up and fold her parts back together like buttoning on a shirt. I'm just finished watching that show so I have to go for a second look. Nice to see Clea Duvall (Carnivale) still has a job.
Now this show is a lucky find that I'm almost disturbed about liking so much. Dexter is based upon the books written by Jeff Lindsay. Dexter is a forensics expert who happens to be a serial-killer. He was adopted as a child by a cop who in effect set a monster after the other monsters and begs the question, is it alright for a monster to kill other monsters when the justice system seems unable to cope with the truly evil? I'm please to see that Darla/Julie Benz is a co-star. Love the series and I'm uncomfortable enjoying it.
