Everyone's doing end of the year lists, and I want to get in on that! The only problem is that I don't keep up with new releases very well. So here are a couple of new albums I like. I can't say that they're the best, but whatever.

- I completely forgot that Wainwright did the music for Knocked Up. It worked really well as it didn't distract you too much from the movie but when you focused on it you realized that it was actually pretty nifty.

- Cactus is obsessed with Old 97s. In fact, I believe they made an in store appearance earlier this year to promote this album.

- You just like Ditty Bops because one of them looks exactly like Alex. and isn't Alex beautiful?

- Dylan! You sonofabitch! What's the matter, CIA got you pushing too many pencils?

The Knocked Up soundtrack is interesting. Loudon wrote a bunch of songs loosely based on the movie. The movie itself only had instrumental versions of most of them, but the album has the vocals and lyrics. I think they don't even call it a soundtrack - they say it's songs "inspired by" Knocked Up. And Joe Henry is a great producer.

I wonder if you would like the Old 97s. On the one hand, they are really impressive musicians, and their songs build really well, and have a lot good hooks. On the other hand, it's not your kind of music at all, and they have no edginess to them. It's all guitar-pop love songs.

Finally, have you come across the music video for the new Dylan Album? Harry Dean Stanton as an obsessive Dylan bootlegger.
