As you know, science makes my brain hurt lots...so most of that made little sense to me. However, congrats on the dissertation mark- that is truly awesome! And also congrats on knowing what you won't to do with your life...an achievement in itself!

I'm rather excited about your York plan. I love York. I'm so coming to visit you!

As for the job dilemma, here's my advice, for whatever it's worth...
I think you have worked very, very hard for 3 years and it might be good to just go home and work in a more relaxed job that you know well and enjoy some time with your friends and family. But what do I know eh? I do serve baked potatoes for a living...
