The Broomstick Avenger

Mar 27, 2009 19:55

It's been awhile since I got out a good rant and this week has really offered some good material so here I go.

For part of this afternoon, I did some background reading on Bill O'Reilly stalking and ambushing a blogger for Thinkprogress.org who wrote about his offensive comments regarding rape and murder victim Jennifer Moore. By the way, they ( Read more... )

If he's wearing shorts or *gasp* walks around ANYWHERE without a shirt (harlot!), then he's REALLY begging for a ride on my love broom.
If he protests, I'll just assume he likes it rough and count myself doubly blessed. I adore you.

As sick as it is, I can't help but agree that sometimes I think if we started raping men, they might not have these bizarre ideas.

Sadly, it probably wouldn't.
When I was reading statistics on this stuff, I came across the disturbing fact that in many studies even more WOMEN than men believe these things.

All I can figure is that saying that rape is something that only happens to "sluts" is a way for them to feel more safe.
That and, unfortunately, neither gender is immune to the sick ideas of a patriarchal society.

...Of course, that doesn't mean that the "broomstick solution" wouldn't at least make some of us feel a little better and make a very strong impression. Hell, every little bit helps, right?

That just sickens me and fills me with the urge to go sterilize some bitches with hot pokers.

Maybe so. Ignorance is bliss I suppose.
Yes, that's one of the things I've been discovering lately; women love to be party to their own degradation.

lol. sounds like a plan.

In 1999, several girls were molested after the Puerto Rican Day Parade - always a very rowdy affair. It was one of the hottest days of the year, too, and they were all wearing shorts and tiny tops. Several drunk monsters said that they were asking for it because they were "dancing sexy" to salsa while wearing "slut clothes".

New York was in an uproar for a long time.

There were times when I'd go home during the summer and be...scared, because I don't wear much clothes during New York's 100 degree heat, and live in a wild neighborhood. When I'd ignore various tempting propositions, it would always make me fly off the handle (broomstick or otherwise) when I'd hear, "you'll get yours. Look how you're dressed. YOU'RE ASKING FOR IT!"

All in all, I'd like to be part of the Broomstick Brigade! Sign me up.

**In 1999, several girls were molested after the Puerto Rican Day Parade...

Oh yeah!! I actually remember reading about that now that you mentioned it.
And, though I talk about the horrors of "swamp heat" where you can drink the air if you actually have the energy to move, nothing can make you a nudist faster than a NYC heat wave. That shit is INTOLERABLE!

**Several drunk monsters said that they were asking for it because they were "dancing sexy" to salsa while wearing "slut clothes".

It really is digusting...and disturbingly common. I remember a news story several years back where jury actually found these four guys innocent of rape because the victim was a prostitute because they believed a prostitute cannot be raped. This, even though she was beaten to the point of requiring reconstructive surgery.
I wondered with a bit of gallows humor at the time if that meant she COULD successfully have them prosecuted for "armed robbery".

Also, as I said to polly_snodgrass below ( ... )

I love the way your mind works. Now all of us who deserted our poor brooms for swifters (those poor lonely rejected brooms!) can call back our dust lovers and put them to a much more...pointed use.

Baha...Well, I'm such a Luddite that I still use my broom but I'll sacrifice it.
Of course, I'm also big on adoraheatherly's suggestion below.
These might be even more menacing...and get the point across better: http://www.passionshop.com/The-Fist-Dildo.html

"Never mind that alcohol or drugs are frequently a factor in sexual assault, domestic violence on the part of the perpetrator."

That guy that followed me home and tried to abduct me in E. City? He had alcohol on his breath. He had been watching me for days, my friends also noticed it. I guess he needed to "work up to" whatever he had in mind to do to me.

Yes, I was out too late, I was 16. Those summer nights were warm. I'm sorry I wore make up and dressed badly.

Excellent post, excellent points.

And lastly... thank the shit out of you!

That's exactly it.
I mean, having lived here you surely get my point about summer wardrobe...Most of us grew up without AC so it was like putting on clothes was something you did when company came. *L*
And it's the bloody beach--How many GUYS do you see running around in shorts and...oh yeah, that's it. They're not risking rape (unless they go into the wilds of South Mills and that's more like DeliveranceI mean, no one says a GUY deserves violent crime for being a "moron" when he drives a nice car up to an ATM late at night while wearing a business suit! Why not concentrate on how it says something awful about our society that women (of ANY age) have to be more careful than men in order to avoid sexual assault ( ... )

Bill O'Rapist polly_snodgrass March 28 2009, 15:43:46 UTC
I've told others, before this, that Bill O'Rapist is more than creepy. He's dangerous. I'm pretty sure he's what Altemeyer would call a "Double-High".

http://home.cc.umanitoba.ca/~altemey/ if you want to check that out. I actually had these surveys on my site, up, running and working, but Altemeyer wanted me to take them down and of course I complied.

Since I know how the surveys work (not hard to figure out), I can still run it, but I'd have to come up with my own questions. But you should have seen it, it was awesome. Was a real buzzkill to have to take it down.

Have you seen his Letterman appearance yet? I love Dave! Here's a clip of it from Countdown--Yes, btw, I was Keith and Rachel obsessively.

Just him calling "O'Rapist" a "goon"...I was rolling!
The whole segment is here:
