INJURED AGAIN.

Sep 25, 2010 12:50

Hannah was at work, checking her list of patients for that afternoon. A few hexes, some potioned people... and an Auror, but not Derek. Still, maybe she should check someone else's list. Spotting Charles, or Charlie as she called him, Hannah headed over and grabbed his patient list. "Let me see this, Charlie" she said as she studied his list ( Read more... )

St. Mungo's was never Derek's favorite place to be. At least not the patient rooms. He'd been injured a few times during training, accompanied fellow students a time or two when they'd gotten hurt. It might have been comfortably familiar if not for the bad associations and the fact that all of the staff seemed to have it in for Aurors in general. Derek supposed they had a point but still. It wasn't as though they tried to get hurt. It was just how things went.

"Hannah." When she was the one to walk in, Derek brightened. And then there was some other bloke he may or may not have seen around before. Derek focused on Hannah. Which, maybe he shouldn't have. They were at her work and he didn't want to complicate things for her here by making their connection obvious if she didn't want it to be but bugger it. It was good to have her here.

"It's not that bad," he assured. "Someone threw a curse and twisted my leg around. We mostly sorted it, it's just a bit numb. They wanted it checked out. How's your day going?"

"Not as interesting as yours it seems," Hannah said with a grin.

Hannah glanced at his leg and started to examine it before Charles had a chance to start. He voiced his disapproval and informed her that if she wanted to be a more productive Healer then perhaps she should spend more time looking after her own patients.

"Why don't you worry about your own productivity, Charlie." Hannah snapped at him and then informed him that she was almost on her lunch break so she was just checking in on Derek.

"Fine," she said as she backed off and let him examine Derek. Charles asked him all sorts of questions, as he poked and prodded at him. Hannah watched him closely, disapproving of the way he looked Derek over. Besides, Charles was somewhat rude or brisk.

If asked, Derek would have had to confess that he enjoyed Hannah's protectiveness and the mild argument over who was treating him. He tried not to smile too much. The Charlie fellow didn't seem the type to appreciate it. Or much of anything for that matter ( ... )

Hannah rolled her eyes at Charlie lecturing Derek and did not like that he was hurting him. The thought did cross her mind that perhaps this is exactly why she should not be treating him, but she ignored it.

Not to say she hadn't thought the exact same thing when other Aurors had shown up to be treated by her with a quick fix in place. Never mind that right now. Hannah watched as Charlie continued to work.

She grinned at Derek. "The favourite part of his job is lecturing patients, I think. He's been here two years longer than I have and he acts like he's my boss. It's ridiculous," Hannah said, knowing full well that Charlie could hear her.

Charlie made a comment about how Hannah still had a lot to learn, which made Hannah laugh. She ignored him now, focusing her attention on Derek. "So this wasn't your fault? You're still on the track to be the greatest Auror student along with Nora?"
