Hannah had lied to her boyfriend. Twice. She'd lied. At the time she felt it was inconsequential, but it wasn't. Hannah knew that now. At dinner tonight, Stephen told her that he wanted her back, that he knew that she wanted to get back together with him. Which was the complete opposite of the truth ( Read more... )

"Hmm?" Derek didn't look up right away, finishing the end of his paragraph before turning his head toward Hannah. It was nice having her here. They'd gotten to a nice place. Well, everything had been nice since they'd started dating. They were often staying over at one or the other of their flats and there was a comfort level there. The making out had been great. The sex was even better. But mostly it was just having her around all the time. Being domestic. Derek had never appreciated that as much with his other girlfriends as he did with Hannah. Maybe it was the being friends for so long, or maybe it was just her.

"I need to tell you something," Hannah said. She was slightly nervous now, but kept talking. "I was at dinner with Stephen tonight. He said he had to see me again for something, so I went to dinner with him." She glanced down at him, hoping that he would react favorably.

Derek felt everything slow down. Stephen. Dinner with Stephen. He sat up straight and turned to face Hannah, setting his book on the coffee table. "What do you mean, you went to dinner with him? I thought there wasn't anything you needed to talk about."

He eyed her carefully, not sure where this was going.

"He told me that he needed to see me, so I went out to dinner with him tonight," Hannah said as she looked down at her hands. She didn't dare look up at him. If she could just explain this, then he would be fine, everything would be fine. Right?

Hannah woke up, rolled over in bed and sighed. She hadn't slept well, but it was definitely morning, with the light coming into her room. She sighed and got up to get ready for work. Once she'd eaten toast, gotten ready to go, she heard a knock at the door. Perhaps it was Derek! She smiled and was so happy to make up and get things better.

When she opened the door, however, it wasn't Derek. It was Stephen. With his stupid grin and his stupid face. Stephen was the source of this problem. "What the fuck are you doing here?" Hannah snapped and glared at him.

Stephen paused in the doorway. "I thought we had an agreement last night." That hadn't been the greeting he'd expected from Hannah but she'd come around. "I know you were worried about, you know, seeing someone already but come on. Hannah." He leaned on the door frame and smiled. "Just tell me, what'll it take?"

She was going to take him back. It was only a matter of time.

"We had no such thing," Hannah stated with a frown. What was he on about? What it would take for her to leave Derek for him? Bloody ridiculous.

"Stephen, I'm not leaving him. Now kindly piss off. I can't see you anymore." She glared and tried to usher him away from her flat.

Hard to get, was it? Well, they'd been there before too. Stephen was not one to give up when it came to the pursuit of Hannah Salix. Sure his attention strayed sometimes but he always came back didn't he? She wanted him just as much.

Stephen leaned his arm into the door. "Let's not play this game, Hannah. You and I both know you want me back. Why else would you agree to see me?" She was cute when she tried to be difficult. "It's always gonna be us, babe. You know that."
