Hannah stood outside a bookshop in the rain, waiting to meet her boyfriend.  She had set up a meeting outside the shop.  Her umbrella was charmed to keep the rain off of her in a much more efficient way than the umbrella itself.  Derek was late, which was unusual for him.  He'd only been living in London for a few weeks and hadn't gotten the lay of ( Read more... )

Derek had, in fact, gotten himself turned around coming to meet Hannah. It wasn't the main reason he was late,  however. That was down to Felix. Derek hated for Hannah to think he couldn't get around London and hurried his pace. It should be...

Yes, there she was, looking beautiful and fashionable in her raincoat. He was reminded that he'd left the flat in such a hurry he hadn't thought to dress for the weather. His peacoat repelled the rain well enough but it dripped from his hair.

At the helpful suggestion, Derek shook his head. "It's alright. Honest, it was a wrong turn is all." He had an A-Z in the flat. Hannah may not know it but some days after practice he would wander the city, picking a new street or district to explore. It was as good a way as any to get a feel for the place.

Although he'd never lived here before, it had taken on an odd connotation when his dad had moved. It wasn't dislike. Disinterest, maybe. But Hannah had given him a reason to enjoy the capital. The view from her flat -theirs, now- cast the city in a much more flattering light than his school age imagination had done. He wanted to be with Hannah. That meant being in London and Derek intended to make the best of it.

"Felix caught me on the firechat before I left." He offered the news as an explaination for hus late arrival. "Minor
