He likes to pant. Is that so wrong?

Because I've been sick (and because I won't take him out when it gets above the low 90s), my dog Henry hasn't gotten a walk the last couple days, so last night when I got home, I forced myself to take him out. We did about 40 minutes, almost our standard afternoon walk. It was nice out, Hank was happy to be stretching his legs, and once I was out ( Read more... )

my moms dog is a panter and cannot STAND being in the sun. but she really wants to get out and walk twice a day, every day, no matter how hot or sunny it is outside. so, I mean, what are you supposed to do? dogs that get walked are happier, healthier, and have less anxiety and related behavioral issues, so her people get to be happier, too.

dogs can be stubborn, and if they're really just too damned tuckered out, they'll let you know!

um, obviously, YOU know this, but it's a shame that people who choose to make judgments DON'T know.

Yeah, I wish I could show them video of the hyperactive spazz he was just 20 minutes previously: "See? This is what he's like if he doesn't get his walk. Got anything more to say?" But, y'know, judging others--it's free entertainment, and I guess with gas prices being what they are, people need that.

or, here's a great comeback:

"why don't you mind your own fucking business?"

i've never heard of someone giving a dog owner shit for walking their dog TOO much.

I'm with greyplanet. Why didn't you just say, "Hey, asshat, why don't I come to your house & judge a bunch o' shit about you that's none of my business?"

Haha! "Boy, that sure is an expensive house you just walked out of. Are you sure you can afford it?"

Yes, I also love when I pull my dogs out of the way of pedestrians and they automatically eye me up and say "oh, is your dog mean?" I used to explain that I was trying to be polite because I understand that not everyone likes dogs. Now I just say "yes". (which is funnier if you have seen my extremely non-threatening dogs)

Yeah, because of Henry's size, anyone with any fear of dogs automatically assumes he's dangerous. I see people cross the street to avoid him all the time. It used to upset me, but then I realized it had nothing to do with me or my dog; it was all about them, and if that's what they felt they had to do every time they saw a dog, well, so be it. (But yeah, I've seen your two, and they're not exactly the most fearsome hounds ever. Most adorable, maybe, but not particularly Cujo-like!)

God, what a fucktard! "I don't think so." How the hell would he know if YOUR dog has been walked enough? What a dumbass. And I don't think there's really any appropriate response to that kind of dumbassedness; when someone just starts out judging, they're not very likely to listen to anything you have to say. All you can really do is HATE. And let all of us hate, too. Yay for hate!
