Time for my annual Chinese New Year mix CD. Last year was easy, since it was Year of the Dog, and everyone from Elvis to George Clinton has written a song about a dog. This year is the Year of the Pig, which should be a little tougher but not impossible. I need pig songs, people. Yeah I was thinking about the Pink Floyd but then wondered if that fell into the same category as Alice in Chain's rooster song during Year of the Cock--ie, songs that qualify, but would make people hate me if I played them at a party. Prolly not, though.

It doesn't have the word "pig" in the title, but I think Miss Piggy's ode to Kermit and love at first sight, "Never Before," from the Muppet Movie soundtrack, ought to go on there.

I was thinking I might open the whole thing with a sound clip of Miss Piggy dialog. I thought of "Never Before," but that song's kinda hard to listen to all the way through just once, and this CD tends to get put on repeat at the party.

oh, there just happens to be a line about pigs in the song "She's on the Stairs" by Ben's Bones. I hope that counts because I really like that song.
