2. The second time you do an activity that made you sore, you'll get much less sore, even if you work harder. This is because your nervous system adapts to new activity much more quickly than your muscles; the first time you did it, your neurons were firing every which way, and not activating things anywhere near as efficiently as it does the second time. The stretching and the increased freedom of movement probably helped as well.

On an unrelated note, I don't know if you ever read my LJ or not, but in case you don't: on most Sundays I play host for movie(s) and dinner. whiskey_poptart usually comes up, and sometimes other folks as well. Ha, no, roller skating is ALL the rage down here in Charm City right now. And no link as our website is currently effed the eff up, sadly.
I think once I get my skates off the floor I'm going to start hurting again, but less from the bruising and more because I'm getting a good workout. Which will be worth it!

In contrast, I fell down several times last night, because I am trying to learn how to turn backwards at higher speeds, and also turn back frontwards when skating backwards. There's always something else you don't know how to do yet . . .
