We've reached a sort of peace, in which we communicate solely via text message ("Pls can I let Hank out?"/ "5 min" /"Thx"). Last week, he ended one such an exchange by asking if Henry was an akita, because he was thinking of getting one

I met my new neighbor putting out a 3' x 5' (read, in feet, not index card)hand-lettered sign, like the sign when you're adding a bedroom or garage or something, stating her intent to add another adopted animal to her current stable of 1 cat & 1 dog. She had to do this to comply w/adoption rules for the state or city pound. So I'm thinking you have a case here if it gets really unruly. But then you'll have a p'o'd unruly neighbor.

Yeah, that's my fear. He's end of row, so it's not like it could be some other neighbor complaining. And I'll still have to live next to him.
