You know how you generally get a cold: A day or two of sore throat, then it move down into your chest, then up into your head for another few days, then a couple days of lingering cough while it goes back to your chest for a few last souvenirs, and within a week or two, it's all over? this has nothing to do with your cold, but did you hear the story on NPR this morning about how the Chinese government is all in a kerfuffle because the pig is un-PC among Muslims?

Yeah, I did. Sigh. I understand (barely) not wanting to eat pigs, but can't people at least tolerate cartoon representations of them?

Also, I totally need to download a copy of that Chinese Pig song for my mix.

It is a little surprising -- especially in China, where the pig is super symbolic. Still I have to say, pork chops taste good. Bacon tastes good.

This is TOTALLY off topic, but Whiskey's icon reminded me that I just listened to a podcast of Fresh Air with Peter O'Toole on my train ride yesterday. If anyone's speaking voice rocks more than his, I'd sure like to know about it.

They should, with the homeopathic stuff... It comes in little tubes, and you take a whole tube full of these tiny pill-granules that taste like sugar. Usually works a miracle. Of course Mucinex is pretty slammin', too.

The red chicken icon is ominous, when one discusses flu. Bird flu, though, it's not, especially given the quaalude symptoms. Maybe turtle flu? Or, less ominously, turtle sniffle?

Uh, no, guess not. But it doesn't seem like an infection--don't you usually have to get a cold first to wind up with one of those?

I think the Red Chicken Death will pass you over. What a horrible week to be feeling ill. Have you considered just staying indoors until June?

Not till the 17th, but if it's going this slowly... plus my father and little bro are coming into town on Sunday through Wed a.m. Postponing the party a week would make sure I was a) recovered whatever's gunking up my respiratory system and b) recovered from the fam.
