Omg. This .... I had heard Badmagic's reselling, but ... Wow, that is even worse than I had imagined. And I can totally hear the "watch me moving slowly" in Dave's voice.

I think I had heard the story from Badmagic rather than y'all, but I don't remember if that was before or after he met recalcitranttoy - there were a couple rabbit telephone differences which might amuse -

the details of Lucy being home and the phone pulling out of the wall are not in my memory

He had thought the arrival of the police was because Rawk Rawk bird was screaming Help Help....

So the rabbit telephone version is of the alarm company dispatching the police with a call saying that there are screams of help! Help! And I'm a green chicken, and having to explain that no, that is the birds, and them calming down and leaving on hearing the amazon :)

Oh, yes, the "¿¿Que??" at the end was the absolute last straw. But there was no point getting mad at Lucy, because she really was legitimately terrified. Just, AUGH.

No, I'm pretty sure the alarm company couldn't actually hear the full magnificence of the soundscape other than it being loud. They dispatched because a) we didn't have the Super Secret Password, and b) we "hung up" on their confirmation call, which is highly suspicious and probable cause all on its own.

This story never gets old. :) I'd completely forgotten about the nanny -- "¿¿Que??" nearly made me fall out of my chair. Again.
