A Promised Destiny!

Since this is the haven of Hansi-related postings, I thought I'd share with future members as well as to remind rdyfrde of the story I told her of my trials and tribulations. It's behind a cut because there's a pic and it's kinda longish I guess.

I had thought it highly unlikely that a band of Blind Guardian's caliber would ever set foot on U.S. soil, but the idea came to fruition shortly after the release of A Night at the Opera in March (heard it in a Hansi interview of course). By October, the official tourdates were up and there it was plainly for me to see, December 13, 2002 - San Francisco, CA! Hansi in my birth city! Though it would be a two and some-odd hour long journey from the foothills to the bay, it was worth it! I bought the ticket on my 19th birthday, knowing that the reality of Hansi and the ending of all the obsessive fantasies would be the ultimate birthday present and Christmas present all in one! That is... until... December 12, 2002. The bus broke down, the show was cancelled, all chaos inside me ensued, breeding hatred for citizens of Los Angeles and Seattle alike and even international people who had seen other dates on the tour. The chaos lulled to a depression, including the hardline fact that I wouldn't make it to the Blind Guardian Open Air in Coburg though all my forum friends would be there.

Thanks to icemotion a long-time friend who had understood my insane Hansi-ness, he informed me of a one-off show in Rijssen, Holland and said it would be much easier for him to meet the bards for me there than at the BGOA. Instead of getting a tour program book from the most recent tour, he bought one from the Nightfall in Middle-Earth tour, knowing it was my favorite album. I waited a week for the mail to arrive and beheld this in the centerfold page:

Though the next U.S. tour is over a year away, now every time I watch the DVD and see a moving singing talking breathing Hansi on my TV screen instead of just audio and still photos, I say I'm halfway to The Promise!
