My heart goes out to those losing their lives in Iran today. Neither of the candidates in their election seemed like a good choice.  It seems to me that the people are protesting more than just a possibly rigged election.  They talk about liberty and democracy.  They talk of overthrowing a dictator.

Liberty is something that every person craves and desires. They may not know it because of the oppression over them, but all people crave liberty. To say that a person must take freedom is incorrect. All people are created free, and have it taken from them (or give it up voluntarily). When a person is deprived of Liberty do free people have an obligation to help free them? That is the question that Wilbur Wilberforce asked himself and the people of England. Their answer was that free people do have an obligation to free others that are oppressed. It may be unpleasant, but if we can bring Liberty to people, then we definitely should.

Well, that's a noble thought, but not even close to practical. There are billions of people out there that live under tyranny. You may be right about people being "created" free, but they certainly aren't all born that way. Let's start a list of places we need to free...Myanmar, Congo, North Korea, Saudi Arabia, Libya, UAE, Somalia, Chad, Syria, Zimbabwe, Uzbekistan, Sri Lanka, Kazakhstan, Qatar, Sierra Leone, Tajikistan, Yemen, Nigeria, and, of course, that little country...China...After we meet our obligation to free all of these countries, maybe we can start on our own hemisphere...
