I think that we all tend to see things differently when looking back on the past, we either glamourize it, or make it appear more grey than it really was.

I don't think that you should give an explanation of who you are and how you are to people. Trying to live up to people's expectations is impossible because everyone perceives you differently and there's no way you can attempt to satisy each person. Just be the way you are. Don't lose sight of that.
