Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?
more than i predicted! going into this year, i was pretty sure i wouldn't have much time to dedicate to fic but i actually wrote a decent amount which is pretty surprising? my initial word count goal was 20k but i managed to more than double that!
What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January?
hmmm for pairings, i guess i'd say most of them? i didn't really expect that i'd end up writing so much seventeen haha. i also didn't expect i'd write more (attempted) humor and fluff than the previous years!
Did you take any writing risks this year?
a few, but not as many as last year! i think the biggest ones would be writing more fluff than usual, writing more slash, trying to vary up which point of views i wrote from, and writing with other people (infictions).
Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year?
i want to try writing from each seventeen member's pov...that's a very huge goal/committment because there are thirteen of them (i think i've written from...five so far. which is more than i actually thought!!!). i want to write more full-length fics rather than ficlets/drabbles, though who knows what time will allow u___u i'd also like to finally write the wonwoo/jun fic i've been meaning to since summer. pairings-wise, i'd like to try writing some femslash or girl group centric fic??? also! i want to finish my holiday advent fics T___T
What were last year's goals?
i quote: "finish my holiday advent fics and write some of the ideas/pairings I've had in mind for a while. And I want to try writing for fandoms outside of k-pop, maybe (like anime or tv shows), though that seems very intimidating to me so no promises /sweats nervously."

BEST AND WORST:
My best story of this year:
i think hold my hand! i feel like it was one of my best in terms of pacing and flow, and the characterization (though some are a little flat u__u) went over pretty well? i was also so happy writing this fic and still felt happy when i re-read it recently haha!
My most popular story of this year:
sha sha sha. i've never received so many kudos and hits in such a short amount of time that i was honestly kind of scared lol
Story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion:
none? i feel like all my fics got a decent amount of readership, considering i'm a wee phytoplankton in an ocean of fandom haha
Most fun story to write:
closed system and strawberry planes. for closed system, it was fun throwing all the ridiculousness and references from day6's asc in! and for strawberry planes, it was fun writing about the cute ins-and-outs of young love.
Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters:
sha sha sha in that writing about dk's crush on jaehyun, i...kind of fell in love with jaehyun too...before jaehyun wasn't even in my top 3 for nct but now he is lol the power of writing fic i guess...
Hardest story to write:
the war of 20-year-olds and [redacted unrevealed exchange fic]. if you ask shida, yun, or ellie, you will know how much time i wasted dwadling about how i didn't know what to write/what i was writing/if i even had a plan u___u i think i screamed "i don't know" a lot when i was writing wonpil's part...
for [redacted unrevealed exchange fic], i was just really stuck. it was during that awkward in-between of being free from schoolwork but also living with the guilt of being almost a month late turning in your exchange fic...i also wrote about two members i never really wrote about or thought about writing about much so the characterization was hard for me u__u i was also travelling and super tired every time i opened the google doc so i don't think anything made sense and the fic's quality suffered as a result...i'm sorry @ recipient.
Biggest disappointment:
[redacted unrevealed exchange fic] because other than what i said above, i feel like it turned out really try-hard and forceful in its characterization - rather than showing-not-telling, it was a lot of telling and stating which i don't like T_T
i also think my part of the war of 20-year-olds is the weakest part of the whole fic I'M SORRY #TEAMFAM
Biggest surprise:
have your cake (and eat it too) because i think it's surprising how i went from not noticing seokgyu > falling in love with seokgyu > writing this fic in 24 hours.
Most unintentionally telling story:
[redacted unrevealed exchange fic #2], especially the lost feeling of not knowing whether you're doing the right thing with your life/what is a career.

Seokmin feels his heart beating too fast in his chest as he takes a step forward, and then another, leaning closer and closer to Mingyu until he lets himself count several eyelashes, and kisses him.

i'm so thankful to all of the friends i've met this year and all of my old ones, may we cry over deadlines and procrastination together again in the new year ~~~ ♥♥♥♥♥ (or not, hopefully we can get our shit together but i doubt it @ me) HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!
