Earthquake

I'm sure that many people have already heard about the earthquake this morning in Hawaii. Sadly they are focusing on Oahu again instead of on the Big Island called Hawaii. Here is a picture of the aftermath for those who haven't read and/or heard about it yet:

Yeah. . .it's odd. ..Cause Oahu is quite far away from The Big Island. . .I was able to get ahold of my mother (after lots and lots of trying) and she said that everything is fine. But, she was quite concerned over her friends on the Big Island, close to Kailua Kona where it happened. . .And I guess they are getting very little info there. . . She said they have no power state wide and only one radio station is on the air. . .

Tis, very, very upsetting. . . I hope all your friends and loved ones are okay.

Thats good news about your mother. My mother actually called me using my father's cell phone LOL since power was out but I've heard that some people are panicking or were panicking. I dont blame them though because like where we live now... its relatively easier to find supplies after the fact and there are more stores.

Like you I hope you and your friends and family in Hawaii are alright. Its quite shocking esp for those who live through it.

oahu is so overrated...my mom's friends house north of hilo shook a bit, but everything is ok i guess.

no tsunamis, which is a good thing.

yes, oahu is so overrated. Someone on LJ who lives on the Big Island said everything's fine. My coworker called her mom in Hilo and they had electricity afterwards. I still haven't heard from my brother in Kona just yet, but from what I heard, they should be ok.

Well Oahu still holds a special place in my heart. Also there are many people who were w/o power... which can be difficult to deal with when a very isolated island with too many people on it. I feel bad for those people who feel helpless because look at what happened after Hurricane Katrina so I guess I can understand the panic. I guess its different because they are in it while we are not.
