A letter from the past

What follows behind the cut is a letter I wrote to myself exactly one year ago today. I found it quite awesome how everything that I spoke of worked out far better than I could have imagined. Here's the letter:

Well, hello Future Scott. How have you been?

It's one year past since you wrote this email to yourself. How is Sara? Has she convinced you to get married yet? She likely has... you're so stupidly head over heels in love with her right now that you're already considering it and you're not even divorced from Lisa yet. You keep telling people "never again!" and you KNOW that makes more sense... but you also know how badly Sara seems to want it... well.. whatever choice you made, I hope you are happy with it :)

You've likely been living together for some time now... How is that going? At current, she still has her own place, but doesn't stay at it.

How are the cats? I hope they're well. They're some of the only true friends you'll find in life... remember that when they get into stuff. They can't help themselves, but you can control your temper... You've been doing awesome with it so far, and I hope it has kept up.

Are you still at ECO? Our salary/performance review is coming up in a few days and we're hoping for a big raise... hopefully we got it. Or have you finally gotten it together enough to open your own school for martial arts? Perhaps something in cahoots with Dennis?

I hope you haven't put your weight back on. If you have, get back to exercising, you fat fuck. You lost 70lbs of fat, and I know *I* don't ever want to be overweight again.

Anyway... I hope this finds you well and happy. You're very, very happy right now... and if you're still with Sara, I can't see why you would be unhappy. She's an amazing woman and you should cherish her. Treat her to something nice today.

Cheers, man!

Past Scott

Hah! Man did I ever hit the nail on the head with pretty much everything! Sara and I ARE engaged (although it was me who did the proposing because *I* wanted to ;) And I *was* divorced by the time I asked). It's going so much better than I could possibly have imagined!

The cats are all good and I haven't strangled them yet. They're still some of my best friends in the world :)

Still at ECO, too. Got that sizable raise and am hoping for something good at this year's review.

The school one is really funny, because I *just* started a class up at Dennis' recommendation at the beginning of April. It's been a lot of fun and I'm kind of kicking myself for not doing it earlier.

I *did* put a bit of weight back on, unfortunately. Not a huge amount, but more than I wanted. It is coming back off, though, now that I'm working out regularly again and not eating total crap all the time. While "wooing" Sara, I needed to show off a certain culinary prowess... unfortunately, that didn't help my waistline too much ;) Now that the wooing (food wooing, anyway) is over, the weight has started to melt off again :)

This was a really good idea (writing myself a letter in the past) and I can't believe how great it turned out. Definitely something I recommend.

Anyway, I best get at it... I've got a lot of work to get done today!
