Yay, 27 weeks! Suddenly I feel like I might have this baby someday. I really ought to start looking at names... The baby should be almost two pounds by now, which is cool. :)
We filled up the birth tub several days ago.
The tub we have is a La Bassine (I keep trying to think of ways not to say "a the Bassine", but that's just it's name, oh well.) I like it because it's blue. :) It has a padded floor, which is nice, but felt a little wobbly when I first got in. It has two handles, but I'm not sure if they'll be any use to me where they are.
11:12 - I started putting down a tarp and inflating the tub.
11:25 - I started filling it with water. The inflation went quite fast with our air mattress compressor. The instructions warned against using one, but I really didn't think it was strong enough to burst it, and so far there seemed to be no trouble. Note to hoshiadam - it's probably easier to fill the floor before the walls, but since I forgot to, at least we know you can still do it the other way. We got an aquarium hose and an attachment piece to hook it up to the bathroom faucet, no problem there, but the attachment did drip a little. The aquarium hose smells funny. :( It's drinking water safe, but I guess that doesn't mean that there's no off-gassing. :P Yuck, but I'm going to let it air out for the next few weeks, and maybe that will help.
12:20 - Finished. With SAM and I in the tub, the water came to just above the top of the handles. That was deep enough to cover my belly in all positions except squatting, and shallow enough not to overflow when I put all my weight on the sides. The sides are quite sturdy, which is nice.
105.8 was the hottest the water got, when the tub was about halfway full - this is without turning up our water heater. I put in an inch or three of cold water in the bottom, then did straight hot water for the rest of the time. When the tub was about half full the hot water gave out. I rather wanted to get in, I like really hot water, but restrained myself. :) SAM and I got in when the water got down to 99 or so.
98.4 full temp at 12:20 - This felt slightly cool to me, at the point when I turned off the water, but I remember feeling overly hot in labor last time. We'll see what temperature I like when the time comes. When I got out, I did feel a little shaky. I then covered the tub with a tablecloth and let it sit. It lost heat quite slowly, which is good.

We emptied it later on, and that went mostly smoothly. Hoshiadam had to restart the siphon a few times, but the hose reached out the window easily. :) Having the window cracked open next to the bed might be slightly inconvenient in February, but I guess we can stuff towels in the crack if it's too cold.
The pool holds 100 gallons, so the whole thing was probably more than 800 pounds. It didn't crash through the floor, so I call that a success!
