I've been to both places, and they are both amazing. I spent nine days in Athens, with two day trips, to Delphi and a temple on the coast (Sonion). You would appreciate seeing the Theatre of Dionyses after your semester of Greek (and Roman) drama, and there's lots of other tributes to playrights and playrightin around Athens. Unexpected finds that were wonderful include the Greek Folk Art museum, the Children's Art Museum, among others. The archealogical museum has a great chronological display of artifacts, and new exhibits which should be open during your visit. If you go in late October, you can catch their national holiday, which is fun. Also, there are some nice beaches a short and inexpensive taxi ride away (taxis are mad cheap

Forgot: Barcelona also has an amazing nightlife, with seven-room clubs and a Blue Margarita bar. Don't forget to try absinthe, legal there, and cava, their version of Champagne. The paella and tortilla espanola are other must-trys.
In Greece, they have ouzo, which is similar to absinthe, but drank more as they do patisse in France. It's an anis base, very black licorese (sp?) but it will get you mad drunk.
Also, in Spain, when people approach you and say, "Tiene fuego?," they want a light.
OK, apparently I'm the only one telling you to go to Greece, but whatever advice we all give you (and I notice way more people have been to Barcelona) do what you really want to do- it's your trip. If you really have a strong desire to go somewhere, issues of time and money shouldn't stop you.
