When I was in Bristol last year living off my American checking account, the exchange rate (iirc) peaked at $2.11 US to the pound (meaning a dollar was worth less than 50 pence), and barely dropped below $2.00 to the pound.

I've been keeping my eye on the exchange rates once again now that I'm headed back there, and it's currently at a 120+ day

no, not with the shipping. but i ordered a few books from the UK amazon (to be sent to Tim) and it's turning out cheaper than it would be to buy them here!

CREDIT CRUNCH - 2 words you are going to hear a lot once you get here. Matt has to continually tell me that we are in the middle of a currency crisis not a credit crunch. Not long now and UKLand will be like it was in Dickensian times, maybe.

Ordering stuff from the states still works out cheaper than buying it here, for me at least, even with the shipping so take that america!
