Well, the only quibble I have is with your views on Jane Eyre, but then again, I did first read it as a hopelessly romantic teenager who thought it was really awesome that Jane left Rochester, but also liked that she got a happy ending, and have had a soft spot for it ever since. So I won't fight you too hard on that one. :-)

I've never read Crime and Punishment, but everything else we're on the same page (PUN! OH HO HO!) - and you managed to pin down why I was never crazy about Wuthering Heights.

Yeah, the lady and I have gone a few rounds about "Jane Eyre", "Pride and Prejudice", and "The Awakening". You're in good company. :)

And I'd still recommend reading "Crime and Punishment" - exactly once. The lady was right about its cultural significance, and, despite its length, it does have its good points. But one reading is enough, especially for a bibliophile like yourself.
