Ok my beauty gurus. Can any of you give me some suggestions on a nailpolish I can use for french manicures that won't chip within 2 days. In an effort to 1) cut down on manicure/pedicure bills and 2) still keep my fingers and toes looking pretty, I have decided that I am going to master the art of the french manicure and soon be able to give myself ( Read more... )

I swear by nothing but Essie or Opi. Opi only wins because they have cutesy names and quite a selection, but Essie is chip-resistant.

Thank you for the tip. After you mentioned the names I remembered a recent post you made about the Essie being the better polish!

Essie's really famous nail polish is called Ballet Slippers. Personally, I prefer something a little less pink and more neutral (and less opaque, for my hands at least). Essie here is like $7.00 a bottle and the OPI is $7.50.

Also, my nail salon prefers OPI to Essie, but the girl who did my pedicure last whispered to me, "I like Essie better, the OPI bottles get stuck shut and are hard to open!"

Haha.

Well I guess Essie it is! And I have used those stick-on guides but did have problems pulling them off. They pulled the white right off right along with them! I will have to try you suggestions. Thanks!

If you watch the girls when they do your nails they put a big band of white on the tip then take thier clean brush and dip it into polish romover and work back into the nail till they get the white just like it needs to be. i tried it and with a little practice it works really well and you don't hav to mess with the stick on stuff.

I have watched them do that and of course it looks so easy! I actually tried that once with my fingernails and the left hand came out looking great. The right hand...well...it was a disaster. But I could probably do that with my toes!!!
