XD I was kind of considering it, but not yet, I think. I don't feel like I'm ready to move overseas yet, and since I'm probably doing my masters in compression, I'm in the right place (my uni has one of the best compression people, if I were to go overseas for it NZ would be better than the US). Maybe when I convert to PhD >_>

Well, it's not so much that we're casting aside English, but it's as you said:
"as long as you're still listening to the weather report in English and speaking to coworkers in English and reading menus in English, you're still going to think in English"

This is what we're trying to eliminate, so that we can learn Japanese faster. I have no English music on my iPod atm and am trying to get myself used to the sound of Japanese by listening to lots of it.

Once we've reached the level of Japanese we want, then yes, we'll pick up these English things again..but it's a bit hard to get yourself to try and read a Japanese book if there are plenty of English ones you're so used to reaching for, eh?

If you're curious, we're following a method described here:

Hmm, I should clarify that a little more - I can't eliminate all English speaking all still do everything I do anyway (like my job and pkmncollectors to name a few), but I can at least move over some of the leisure time to help with the language!
