I just got an email inviting me to join some honor society because I'm in the top 15% of my class.

Cool.

We're watching Episode 1 now. I'm going to go back to that. I'll finish updating my star wars entry later. I can't believe I'm still THIS tired from it.

(let me try again, I realize you probably got the first comment in your e-mail. didn't mean to rain on the parade like that. what I MEANT was . . .)

It's one of those "look good on a resume" societies. If you get good grades you get to send $75 and they'll put you in a book with your picture, and they ask you to buy the book too.

You DO only get them when you're getting good grades, so it's still a big pat on the back (good job :-D). But it's not like you get to actually be a part of anything. I dunno. I got one too and I don't think I want to be a part of it.

ANYWAY I'm not trying to be a butthead about it ... it's still an honor. You're a genius :-*

last year I paid 30 bucks to join "alpha lambda delta", some freshman honor society, and I never heard anything from them after the induction ceremony. I get things in the mail all the time asking me to pay too much money for stupid clubs. I wasn't planning on joining this one, I just thought it was cool that I'm in thw top 15% of my class.. (I wasn't nearly that high in high school...)

Hi Sweetie....don't feel the need to send them money. Unless it is an organization that you can (and want to) actively participate in....They are only after your money. What will "look good" on your resume is your grade point, the fact that you are supporting yourself by working while you attend school and volunteer work impresses anyone because it gives you a more well rounded view on things. Actually, knowing you...I don't foresee you ever having difficulty finding a job, you are intelligent, creative, have a fantastic personality and an outstanding work ethic not to mention being beautiful too! So, keep your money..those companies only prey on people who think they need that stuff to look good. Anyone who meets you will recognize what a quality person you are in an instant.
